I received my NAO1 on Dec 17, 2007. I plan to visit my fiance' from April 2008 to July 2008 and return with her to the US after she receives her visa. This means that I will be in Ukraine when the NAO2 is issued. As I understand it she will need a hard copy of the NAO2 for her interview at the embassy. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can get a hard copy of the NAO2 when I will aleady be in Ukraine when it is issued? Thanks.

you could have someone pick up your mail and mail the hard copy to you...that'd be about your only option.

Thanks for your suggestion, but I have a wrinkle. I will be away for about 6mo and it may be difficult for me to find some one who will collect my mail for that period.

First off, a question to other VJ'ers... Is the NOA2 REALLY needed for the interview? That just seems absurd!

To respond to the post, I'd be more worried about RFE's. There's no way to assure you won't get RFE'ed, and when it happens, it will likely be something a friendly neighbor or friend shouldn't be taking care of. Just a thought.

Do you need the actual original NOA2? I don't think so. Another option if a copy will do, You could have someone scan it into their computer (back home) and then email it to you. I'm sure you can access email from just about anywhere. This is how I got mine to my fiance very quickly.

You make a good point. If I get an RFE it will probably mean a quick trip back to take care of it.

Why would they even need a copy?¿ It just proves that the petition was approved, and... well... duh.... <confused>

Thanks!

Would it be feasible for you to fly back "home" in case you have an RFE? If you could afford to get a plane ticket back to the states for a few days if case status says "RFE," you could be safe for the visit. Don't make too many assumptions that your fiancee will have the visa by July 2008, though. She probably will, but lots of things can hold up the process.

I know its a risk, but we have been waiting almost two years to be together, so we are going to take the chance. If I need to, I cam stay with her to the end of September if necessary.

Will you still have the proof of income needed to sponsor her?

Just make sure the Post Office knows you are out of town, or someone is getting your mail, to make sure nothing gets returned to sender. I have no idea how USCIS/NVC reacts to that.

But I say... Heck yeah! Enjoy the trip!

Exactly, when its at the point of the SO going to embassy for an interview, that means the embassy already has received the file from NVC and is very much aware that the petition has been approved. I only sent mine to my fiance because he took it to the embassy when he was trying to find out if they had his file yet. ( He was trying to quickly get an interview date.)
