Being that it's a couple hours into the new year (Moscow time), I thought I'd wish everyone here a Happy New Year. Best wishes to everyone on your journey, and thanks to everyone who has provided such invaluable advice, support, and discussion over the last year. By this time next year we'll all finally be celebrating the new year together with our loved ones!

С Новым Годом!

I called my Alla right at midnight. We both had a chuckle how she was living new in 2008 while I stayed behind in 2007. The sound of the family in the background toasting to me and our future made me want to be with her, holding and kissing her. They all said my absense made the festivities less exciting.

She joins me in wishing all our Russian VJers a big Happy New Year with peace and prosperity and brief separations and looong togetherness! :dancing:

I celebrated my third New Year's Eve with my Lena and it was wonderful. We will celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary later this month. To those of you still waiting for your sweetheart to arrive, I wish you great speed. Lena and I can't believe that it's already two years since she arrived as the time has flown by. Happy New Year to everyone with wishes of much happiness, love and prosperity.

Happy New Year to you and your lady MOX and everyone else.

I helped her bring in the new year via phone and then last night as I was still in the festive mood, I talked her into ...(after 15 minutes) singing the Russian National Anthm.

To get her started I had to crank it up on my computer (I stole the download from Limewire), halfway through the first stanza she was singing pretty good.

Hey.... it's cheap entertainment!

LOL, now that's funny! The Russian National Anthem always makes me think of The Hunt for Red October. If I remember correctly, it played during the opening sequence of the movie. (it was the Soviet National Anthem at the time, but is basically the same composition as the Russian Anthem with a few verses changed.) How did you get her to sing it all baritone? :D

Well, there is some good news....

Those of you celebrating this new 2008 can be assured that you will be together with your spouse THIS YEAR.

Think of how fast last year went by and then realize that this year will fly by even faster because you're going to be united... and as said above, you'll get the "joy" of acclimating your Russian wife into American society. (That's going to take more than a year though.... good luck with that!)

Good luck to all in the New Year!

She was doing it in her normal high register, which added a special flavor to it.

If I remember, in hunt 4 red oct. they do sing the nat.Anthm some where in the middle as well and that is what the Black USA sailor hears..... but I could be wrong :)

There is another very traditional Russian song which is called katusha (peddlers pack) which is easy to play on the guitar, I can see her and I with a big career on Youtube now
