In the intial evidence requested for the I-148 (AOS) application, all of the statements start with "if".... What if my husband has never had ANY criminal record anywhere? Does he need to submit the police records again with translations? The police clearances are mentioned a little later, but it doesn't apply to him...

This worries me bc they took his originals at the embassy during the interview... it would be very hard to get them again. It should all be in the packet they took at his POE right? And that gets sent to the local office where he will be processed?

I assume you mean the I-485. You only need to submit the requested documents if the statements apply. If they do not, then you don't need to submit anything.

you should be ok. my wife didn't resubmit any police clearances she used to obtain her visa.
