Has any one had the experience of being under "background check"? I just called CSC and they confirmed that they have received myb RFE but that they are doing a background check and that it could take upwards of 3 to 6 months. I am so pissed offffff

Background checks can occur at basically any stage in the process. Unfortunately no one can tell you how long it will be.

I am in a security check right now at NVC. I guess that's kind of like a background check. They don't know how long it will last. It's been a couple of weeks now. Since December 4th. I'm trying not to think about it. Especially right now because I know they aren't doing anything with the holidays. I feel your pain. It's a whole lot of waiting in this process and absolutely no sense of control or a vehicle to help yourself. I was thinking about how Lucky called her congressman and wondering if I should do the same.

It can't hurt to call your congressperson but I'm not sure if they can do anything to speed up the background checks.

Who knows? USC, SO, both, neither. For all I know they could be doing a background check on the adjudicator that worked my case at VSC.

They do background checks on the USC and beneficiary. I think the background checks of the USC happen at the service centers.

So if the USC has had a security check in the past it would potentially speed things up ? I wonder if some of those that move quicky through a service center have had a sercurity check done proir to their filing.

No, they want a fresh and new security check. Also there are several types of security checks and sometimes when one is completed

another is ordered.

I am not sure what you mean a check prior to filing........by whom ?

Many people have jobs that require security checks . People that have been in the military , that work for defense companies, that work in banks or airports. I am sure there are other jobs where you get these kinds of checks.

With those prior checks they will still order their own. There are also name hits, depending on your name you will get a check.

If the database ' catches' a previous check then I don't know if that could influence the time length.

The FBI is so backlogged with checks it is pathetic and there is no efficiency.

It is a complaint of many entities.

Background checks can be a good thing especially since most times the USC has only spent a couple of weeks to a couple of months with the person in his country, therefore not really knowing that person, many times the person that you spend time with in their country ISN'T the personality that you meet at the airport once they arrive into USA.

For some once they figure the cost is clear and u have signed their adjustment papers things can become very unstable in your marriage, to the point that u just wish that person will go away and leave you alone, only to find that they r more then willing to give u your wish.

But at least if they perform a background check they may find out that the person that treated u so good when u were there in their country has a very shady background and that will spare some from a horrible marriage. So be patient, and let immigration do what they have to do.

I know it's now easy for me to say be patient especially since I feel that my ex. turned out to be the perfect con man.

Happy New Year All,

I had a interim clearance November 2006, that's was more than a year ago. Can't imagine if I had to go through AP. WE were approved 11/15 and received email from Lagos embassy that the packets were ready for Hakeem on 12/13.

Not sure if the interim clearance moved things along.

Happy New Year Bassi and Zainab.

I am so sorry to hear that you all have been waiting since 12/4 for your information to be forward to the appropriate embassy.

We will pray that this process will be over for the two of you soon.

May God continue to bless you all.
