I've lost rings that way, too. Did your SO have insurance on them? Some people do that. If not, maybe you'll be lucky and an honest person will turn them in to the lost and found.

We had insurance on engagement ring stone only. And that's only if it was lost or damaged. We didn't think I would just leave them somewhere. We checked with the airline, the airport security and the Chicago Police Department. Of course I lost them in O'hare Airport one of the biggest hubs in the US. We even offered a $1000 dollar reward, (which is more then what they would receive if they pawned them) but nothing has come of it. Someone got a great Christmas present this year. :crying:

John is the greatest though. He didn't berate me at all and took it all in stride. I was beside myself of course, so that's probably why. The flight attendants I'm sure had there eye on me through out the flight wondering if I was going to try to jump out of the plane or something.

What city and what airline? (If you say Delta i can help you with a phone number.... )

I would check with the airline - remember they are cameras everywhere in the airport and they might have captured who picked them up and with a little detective work you just might get them back.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I never take my rings off in a public place, only at home and at work to use lotion and not always, it's very rare and at my desk not in the bathroom.

  • 2 weeks later...
Going home for the holidays is always an exciting, but stressful time of year. I was so happy to be flying home. Everything was going perfect. My husband and I got bumped off our original flights, but that was okay because they put us on a direct flight home. I was going to get to Calgary 3 hours early.

Well in all the gate changes and going from seat to seat I decided I was going to put on hand cream and took off all of my rings including my wedding band and engagement ring.... I lost them both! I feel so stupid! I can't believe I lost them. I was on the plane when I noticed that they were not on my hand. I just stood up and walked away without them! How could I leave something so important behind? Everyone keeps telling me that they were just pieces of metal and rocks, but that's besides the point! My husband choose those for me. I cried for 4 hours on the flight and of course burst into tears again when my family greeted us at the gate. I spent Christmas Eve bursting into tears every time I thought about it. I was so embarrassed. How could I be so freaking stupid? My husband bought me a cheapy wedding band and engagement ring set from Shoppers Drug Mart on Christmas Eve so I wouldn't have to explain to everyone where mine were. (He did a really good job of finding something very very similar.) He was so embarrassed that he was buying a $24.99 ring set on Christmas Eve. He said the girl looked at him like he was the biggest cheapskate in the world. I felt so bad for him.

Life lesson... Don't take your rings off while putting on hand cream at the freaking airport. You'll never find them again. :crying:

OH,i would have cry just as much as you did. But, you're right, i don't take my engagement ring off ot even for washing dishes or anything. I guess that's a good habbit.

I'm so sorry for you.

But, let's put it this way: what if you loose something just to get something back?

Don't watch world in black and white, there's always the otherside.

I lost my wedding band too. I had many sleepless nights over it. I swear I placed so much emphasis on it and thought my marriage would end or something. I have since gotten over it...although not completely. I lost mine at work...or somewhere along the way.

As was mentioned: contact the airport and see if they have got a lost and found...or maybe someone turned it over to an agent at the gate or something. I hope you find it...
