It’s party time and fireworks on New Year’s Eve, when people have fun and, apart from the fireworks, make loud noises to celebrate the New Year, as well as ward off or shoo away any bad spirits . I am afraid to let my son and family to do the fireworks we use pots and pans and banging it loud as well as turn the volume up of our radio. At midnight on New Year’s Eve, Filipino families get together and partake in a New Year’s feast together to celebrate the coming of a brand new year. We have 12 kinds of round fruits in the table and eat grapes at 12:00 o' clock, children are seen jumping up at midnight in hopes that they will grow taller in the new year. I used to do that but I don't think I grow tall :lol: We make sure all our wallet and pocket have money so we don't run out of cash all year. All of us wearing red esp polka dots clothes for it brings luck and it attract bright future.

I am sure we have more but that is what I have right now..hehehe :D:P

Did you guys and gals practice some traditions? pls share with us.. :)(F)

We kissed at midnight and drank champagne (well, something similar), that's the only tradition, I didn't practice any other tradition I used to in Brazil (like wear white clothes, etc).

Champagne at midnight is a must!! As is someone to kiss :)

Fireworks were going off everywhere in the neighborhood- we had a whole bunch ourselves that Mel and his friends set off. I really enjoyed that- it was quite a sight. That is something we never did ourselves in Canada- the only fireworks you saw were the ones put on by the County or City.

Back home- my family always had Chinese food New Years Day, that was our Tradition. Here the Tradition for Mel's family is black eyed peas (for health) and cabbage (for wealth)

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Luz, I did the round fruits but, in our house we do 13 instead of 12 (one for each month of the year plus 1 extra). I also made sure all doors inside the house were open to let good luck in. Left all my purses and all the drawers in our bedroom open too. Didn't wear polka dotted clothes though as I don't have any. New Year's eve I made sure that all our bills were scheduled for payment (online bill pay).

In our family back in the Philippines, we believe that how you start your new year will reflect what your entire year will be like. So, we always try to have a nice, quiet and happy 1st of the year. :)

I forgot to add that his mom had her bf do it for New Years and accidently locked him out of the house
