Hi All,

I could use some advice. My wife and I finally have our interview to Adjust Status. We met while backpacking abroad, then were apart for about a year. She came to visit and travel in the US on a B-2 visa. Went back home, and then came back to US a second time, and we got married about six months later in the US.

We didn't plan on getting married initially; we wanted to meet up (since we havn't seen each other in a year) and go traveling. But later as her visa was nearing the end of her stay, and we decided that we couldn't be apart, so we went to the courthouse and got married :) However, we did not exchange any rings.

Is this going to be an issue during the interview? (no rings)

What about my wife entering on a B-2 visa?

Any thoughts or comments would help, the interview is coming up really soon!!!

-Thanks!

The rings shouldn't be an issue, as they don't prove bonafide marriage. I know many people sans wedding rings who have had no issues.

As long as you have proof of bonafide marriage and that there was no intent to stay in the US, you should be fine.

GO TO EMITATIONS.COM AND YOU CAN GET A REALISTIC RING FOR LIKE 25-65 DOLLARS

Also an option, though that's pretty close to lying, which I wouldn't condone under any circumstances. If the topic comes up, it just might make you more nervous, and are you prepared to answer questions about when you got them, how you presented them to each other, etc? If it's presented as evidence, they might be influenced to ask for details.

Either way, it's not really a big deal. Don't fret!

Best of luck to you, and don't forget to update VJ and let us know how it went :)

Coming on a B2 as itself is not an issue if you didn't have intent.

As far as the rings, we don't have any either. My husband and I decided to wait until we have a formal wedding with both our families to exchange our rings. Rings are a symbol, they are not what make you a bonafide marriage. They might not even ask about it, and if they do, just tell the truth on why you don't have them (it could even be because you can't afford them right now).

Just be honest and provide the needed proof of your relationship and all will go well.

Good luck.
