I was reading the instructions for naturalization but did not understand clear what other docs I have to send with the form? I have been a permanent resident for 3 years and I will file based on the marriage with the sane US citizen.

What's not to understand? 2 photos, front and back of your green card, marriage certificate, USC's birth certificate or passport (or naturalization certificate if naturalized), and 3 years' tax transcripts OR 3 years' tax returns OR evidence showing a legitimate marriage. We sent the transcripts since we'd just sent everything else a year before.

It refers on the form for information for the past 5 years (do I complete for 5 or 3)?

The only information I can remember the form asking for 5 years on. is time out of the USA. If someone has only been here for 3 years, the other two years won't be applicable anyway, so just state ,all the dates you've been out of the country since you moved here on your marriage visa. If you have been here for 5+ years, and didn't apply for citizenship immediately eligible, I suppose you would fill in all dates for the 5 year span.

If there is another question whrere 5 years is mentioned, same applies. One of the first questions asks that the applicant checks under which rule they are applying - marriage or otherwise, so that point is clarified right at the beginning.

Part 6. Where have you lived during the last five years? Begin with where you live now and then list every place you lived for the last five years. If you need more space, use a separate sheet(s) of paper.

I asked a friend who's a prominent immigration attorney in my area.

She said they probably only really *need* 3, but it's better to give them too much information (i.e. 5 years' worth) than give them a reason to deny you.
