Changing your name doesn't make your marriage any more real, if that is what you're asking.. If you want to keep your maiden name, that is 100% acceptable. :)

Correct, some peoples in many cultures do not take husband's name, and continue using their family names after marriage, example Chinese do this. US government accepts and recognizes this. Taking husband's name is strictly optional.

Only thing to consider, if you do adjust status using maiden name, and later decide to get name changed on the green-card, it takes I-90 filing and a $370 Fee.

I kept my maiden name, and in some ways it seems that it makes this whole process easier - I don't have to carry proof of name change, I don't need to change my SSN, I don't have to worry that Immigration has a different name listed for me than other government agencies or my passport; I don't have to worry about getting DL changed or refused because the names don't match, I don't have to worry what name to use to purchase airline tickets, I didn't have to change my passport:-).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
