Different states have different systems. Do you plan to (or would you like to) vote in your state's primary elections ? And do you know your state's requirements to make sure you may do so ?

I vote in every election. Even little ole local elections.

I recently moved to Washington State and just found out that the Democratic primary doesn't even count and the Republican primary only counts towards 50% of the delegates.

"State Republicans will allocate about half of their delegates based on the result of the statewide election. Of the party's 40 delegates to their national convention, 19 will be allocated based on the primary and 18 on party caucuses. They also have three party officers who are "automatic delegates."

The state Democratic Party, as it has in prior years, will ignore the results of the statewide vote and instead allocate its 80 elected delegates using the results of its caucuses, where voters will meet in their precincts to discuss candidates and elect delegates. They'll also have 17 "super delegates," elected officials and high party officers who are free to back the candidate of their choice at the conventions."

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

This will be my first time voting ever. I know that our primary is on February 5th. I'm registered to vote - what other requirements do you mean?

Most states have a deadline for registering. Like 30 days before an election.

I believe Massachusetts has a "closed" primary, which means only voters who are registered with a party may vote. If you are not a registered Democrat or registered Republican (not sure if Massachusetts allows registered independents) then you can't vote in the primary.

I know this. All my life, I voted as a conservative republican. This year, across the board, I am crossing party lines and wish our war ended, immigration fixed, and other issues changed. Bush and company have not done our country a service.

I was part of the 1992 toss-out of democrats. <grins> @ Jack Brooks losing HIS seat, but..............my uncle charlie wilson has a movie coming up u guys should consider it.

I just received my California Primary Election pamphlet and I've looked through it thoroughly...no where does it say how to apply for vote-by-mail, but it does say the first day to apply is January 7 and the last day is January 22. I'll try looking online for information.

There are several propositions on the ballet, so it is an important vote beyond just the Presidential Primary.

Since Florida moved their primary up to Jan 29th, the Democratic Party is refusing to count it... but I'm voting anyway. Not sure why, if I don't count, but I am.
