I just got back from the Indy office. I had an infopass appointment.

I arrived just before my app time and went to the desk to let them know I was ther. The lady took my app letter and asked what she could do to help.

I told her I was planning on travelling in may and she looked up my details and said my application should be processing right now. Nebraska is currently processing January 19th, not Feb 9th (as on the website).

She said I should get the card soon, but if I don't just book another InfoPass app and take my plane ticket with me and they will stamp my passport.

In and out in 2 minutes. It took longer to get past the security guards. My wife didn't even get a chance to read any of her book (she was prepared for the normal wait)

So if you need to travel that seems to be the way to go. Book the ticket and then book an infopass and take you ticket and passport with you for a stamp.

See, not worth all the worrying, right? How about a vote of confidence in USCIS after all?

Thank you, drawbridgep, for your experience and your tips. Good Luck for the next time.

drawbridgep did NOT get the stamp, but was told to come back later, despite losing his written proof of residence in less than a month (from his timeline, I assume that the NOA expires Feb, 15). It doesn't give me confidence in the USCIS.

Imagine someone living more than two hours driving time from the USCIS office, and the USCIS has already needed much more time than the "regular" six months for processing - and when the customer visits, the USCIS asks the customer to come back later, because there is maybe still a month during which the 10y card could come and, if it does, the precious USCIS stamp ink would have been wasted. Why didn't they give drawbridgep the stamp immediatly and why do they need to see any tickets at a later time when the NOA has expired? I count the reported Indianapolis experience in a negative category. A conclusion could be to wait until the NOA actually has expired, before visiting the USCIS office and asking for a stamp.

That's a good point. I only live 20 minutes from the office, so it's no great problem for me. But this kind of information should be available on the phone. Has anyone tried to navigate the phone's menu lately? I was on the phone going through the menus actually longer than it took to get in the car, drive down town and get to speak to an officer.

The actualy people at the USCIS seem nice and friendly and helpful, but the USCIS as a whole needs some rethinking.

Hi everyone, I notice one of the people on this list has a service request, I couldn't find a post about it and was wondering what date this was placed?

My husband has a contact in Homeland Security that contacted someone in our local office to place a service request. I have no idea if this will make any difference, it seems that it doesn't since that person is still on the list here.

Just wondering if anyone has had any action on a service request? My husband is expecting miracles, I however am skeptical.

I placed a service request on Dec. 14. I haven't heard anything yet. I really don't expect anything to come of it. I haven't heard from the congressperson either. I have an infopass appointment next week to get the stamp, maybe I'll get some answers then.

Service requests are a waste of time. If anything comes out of them -- and frequently nothing whatsoever does -- it's always a some scripted, tell-me-something-I-don't-know BS to the effect that "your petition is currently being processed" and that you will be notified when processing has been completed. Inquiries via one's senator don't yield much more -- usually a made-up processing time passed on to the senator's office by the service center's congressional liason.

That's kind of what I expected, unfortunately my husband thinks this is going to magically move his case forward.

Thanks for the replies.
