Oh I almost forgot we were married on the same day!!! I had to laugh at the title of the thread at first.

Thanks guys. Just another day is how we're treating it. My husband talked to me on the web a bit today though my oldest daughter monopolized most of it as usual. She loves asking him words from the Egyptian colloquial book and seeing if he knows what she's saying. I think mostly she just likes watching herself in the webcam though.

Such a romantic time I tell ya! After that he went home and looked at the photo album that I made for him with all that we did that day. What a day too! First it was the embassy convincing the woman to give me the ok to marry paper, then off to the ministry of justice where his cousin told us we still had to get it translated (even though the embassy said we didn't have to) and that I was missing a stamp on my passport AND that he needed his new ID which he hadn't been able to get yet. He sent me off with his bff who spoke NO english :o and he went by himself to get his id.

One document that he needed was in his flat but he had left his key with a friend of his so he had to climb onto the roof of the nextdoor mosque and then break into his flat via his window, get the papers and some money and then hightail it over to wherever he gets the id and get it by bribing not only the id peeps but all the people in line in front of him.

Meanwhile I was off in one cab after another with his friend and the only form of communication was two thumbs up from him to me and vice versa when things went ok. lol. We had to go to some place to get a stamp on the paper from the embassy and then to another building across the city to get something on my passport. bribes were being flung left and right all the way.

We finally got done and were in the elevator when Usama came running yelling for us to hold the door. Talk about timing!!! Then we get there and his cousin who is an imam and an employee there tells us that they're not marrying anyone anymore that day because they want to close up for Eid.:blink::blink: Sweat's pouring down Usama's face and he starts to cry. He takes my hand and heads for the area where they are to marry the people and he begs begs begs and pleads. He is practically at the feet of the man who can make this decision and money again is flying all over the place. Before I know it we're finally in front of a man with a HUGE book asking us quesitons, etc. Then off to another room where the guy tells us we need more photos. He sends his friend over to a copy machine after more money flies around convincing the guy that a photocopy will do. After that I wait in the waiting area where this woman is doing the lululululu thing 'cause she just got married. Then we're called into the room again and everyone is mabrookin' each other and apparently we're married.

After that it's off to get my first helping of koshari. We shared a table with some strangers and they heard our story and took pictures of us and our blue thumbs.

the rest of the story is mine and his and was the most beautiful thing in the whole entire world and always will be. :luv:
