come to think of it - I only tuned in to VH1 once since the new year. I think this was because I was obsessed with re-watching the entire fourth season of the wire before season 5 started.

now that I am done with watching worthy things I must turn to my fix of sluts and rocking of worlds

Yes Alex - you must. You have to stick with the first 3 episodes, which are a little slow and hard to get into but sets the story up. Once you manage that, your patience will be rewarded. It is seriously the best TV series ever made - just when you think it can't get any better it does. It's like the greta american novel in a tv show. I can't recommend it enough.

We went to get season 4 of the wire at the video store and the ENTIRE show was out - I think it's very popular for rental right now. Fortunately, I was able to get it all through Netflix in order.

Lisa - I just checked my TV TRacker - Medium not cancelled but only 9 episodes made.

Yeah its really good. Its a bit similar to The Shield in some ways, but more "real world".

You basically see everything from different points of view - like that movie Traffic, but the show focusses on specific issues in each season. Season 1 was about the drug trade in housing projects, Season 2 was about the ports & longshoremen (also human trafficking). I'm not far into season 3...

They pretty much hit the nail on the head politically and it seems a pretty authentic depiction, if not of Baltimore but of the national issues it depicts. You see, for example, how the higher-up police are more interested and driven by arrest and conviction stats than on really solving crimes. Everything is pretty warts 'n all.
