Reality shows definitely have writers but they are not currently members of the WGA (the writer's guild) - one of the reasons talks have stalled is because the WGA put jurisdiction over reality content on the table and the AMPTP (the studios) balked

It's a battle of attrition - if the studios can hang onto their position longer than the writers. That said, once stock prices start being seriously affected the shareholders will likely force the studios to move.

Most of the deals that were axed are not profitable. For example Hugh Jackman's deal at Paramount produced a show that cost millions to make but was cancelled after 2 episodes and was called one of the worst shows ever made. Although there are some that raised my eyebrow - like the deal ABC has with the EP of Brothers and Sisters. I thought show performed well enough that he might be spared, but apparently not. I eyeballed other ABC deals and was not surprised - some of those guys haven't produced a pilot picked up by the network in over 3 years.

The studio's stock prices being down effects nothing really when the entire stock market is going through a correction - the financial pain won't be felt in this fiscal year anyway.

I'm afraid the studios have most of the leverage right now.

It is! And there's a French girl and one of the girls who won "Beauty and the Geek" is on there too... but to me it feels sort of empty and sad. I miss the old sluts...

Anyway I'm sure VH1 will replay the first one soon. That's how it works, right? I wouldn't have known it was on either if Rey hadn't mysteriously known.

come to think of it - I only tuned in to VH1 once since the new year. I think this was because I was obsessed with re-watching the entire fourth season of the wire before season 5 started.

now that I am done with watching worthy things I must turn to my fix of sluts and rocking of worlds
