Passport Needed

I thought I would post this here instead of in the general forum. I, the USC, don't have to have a passport do I? He has one but I do not. I was going to wait to apply til after we were married and it takes like six weeks to get here.

you don't need a passport for the immigration petitions and applications, but if you wish to travel, you will need one.

My Husband (USC) does not have a passport.... we were never asked about it at interview...

He will be getting one son as we hope to go back to visit family in Scotland this fall...

Perhaps it makes a difference where your stuff is being processed. When we had our AOS interview in San Antonio, one of the documents required was his (USC) passport. Also despite not REQUIRING it at previous levels, they always asked for it.

passport for USC was on our AOS interview checklist, but it was an either/or with birth certificate. I couldn't find his birth certificate, so we took his passport. I guess it does depend on the district office.

Considering the US will soon require USCs to show a passport to Get Back Into the country if they travel abroad, its just basically a good idea to get one asap anyhow.

It already DOES require passport for entry from countries other than Canada or Mexico (and, for multicitizens such as myself, IT MUST BE the US passport that is shown for the purpose of entry/re-entry into US).
