We do.

I've seen it before. Cree-py.

What's creepy about praying before a meal?

It's not creepy...unless being thankful is considered creepy.

Thankful to WHOM? That's my problem. Plenty of people deserve thanks and praise -- too bad so much energy is being wasted on religious praise, IMO.

does rey pray before a meal?

You don't seem very thankful about much. Religious or otherwise.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Of course not. I'm certainly thankful for that!

No idea where that came from.

".....I also want to thank you for my red hot smoking hot wife."

..............

I personally find nothing wrong with taking the time to be thankful for what we have, be it in a prayer before a meal or just reflecting on how fortunate we are. :) In public, I think it's best to keep it private though.

I've always been curious, if you should pray for the meal on the way in, wouldn't it be fitting to pray on its way out? :jest:

Of course. Some people pray about everything. They attribute everything to G_d. Nothing is apparently due to luck or their own skills....it's all G_d.

"G_d allowed me to drive home safely." - No, your ability to drive, as well as the skill of the other drivers on the road allowed you to arrive home safely.

"G_d heard my prayer and led me to find a $50 bill on the ground today." - No, that's called luck.

"G_d granted me the health to take an astronomically large poo today." - No, that's your digestive system.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I suppose some take it to extremes, but I do believe that everything has purpose and not everything happens by chance or by sheer will.

I'm for being reasonable with religious matters.

I'm with you Mister Fancypants. If it were the later... What a complete and utter waste.

He's the one who likes to cook. But since we're both atheists, if I cook, he can just cross his fingers. :)

I wasn't brought up to say grace... so I never have. We only ever used to on special occasions like Christmas. If we had a family full of kids I'd probably do it to give them the right idea, but otherwise it feels awkward to me. Besides, God knows if we're thankful to him for all the things he has provided us - he doesn't need to hear a bit of mumbo-jumbo every five minutes to know that we still think of Him. I don't pray very much either, not out loud anyway...
