lol I forgive you for the hijack. I will hijack it too...mags have you ate at buggs temple?

No, where is that?

it's downtown on the canal in Indy. it's an old church that they've turned into a restaurant. my friend is the exec chef there...he took all the employees from Pucks with him. they have a casual dining place for during the day and fine dining at night. there will be an ice cream shop in there too in the spring. http://www.buggstemple.com/

Oooh, that looks lovely. Might have to check it out. :D

I'm embarassed to say that I don't pray before every meal, because I bet people would think I do. I would do it, I just don't always, it's a bad habit that I forget to. I'll say a silent prayer to myself sometimes, and then sometimes we say an out loud quick prayer if we are with more people. But I do still think God "blesses my food" whether I remember to ask for it or not.

For the original Q-I've seen lots of people do it in public.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

There is a couple that comes in here quite often that stops and prays before they eat their food. Usually in my family we only say the blessing if there is a large group of us together eating or if my grandparents are eating with us. This is the first time I've seen people doing it in a restaurant and was curious is there is others that do it as well.

I always do make a cross and prayer before eating no matter where I am, at home or in restaurant. So does my husband. I am proud of being a Catholic follower :).

What I don't like is if a group makes a really big ordeal out of it and talks/prays really loudly in the restaurant...an uncle of mine has done that before, expecting the entire restaurant to be quiet. He's not that great of a guy so it's just a show off thing. For some people it's a show off thing which reminds me of the Pharisees in the bible, and for others it's sincere. I'd rather be with the sincere group if they are going to pray for their food.

Luzy, you probably didn't see my previous post. No, I do not think ice cream is a meal. But my mother actually prays loudly and with at same duration, at an ice cream stand, as she would for an entire family meal at home! I think that is way overboard.

Just curious, is ice cream a meal to you?:blink:

for me , no we don't pray for an ice c

Oh yes.. this is normal for me.. As a child.. said only a prayer that was taught to me.. when I grew up I say it not by memory..but talk to God personally giving thanks..sometimes say a few more things. Since I've been married, I've included Bismilla (can't always remember or say correctly the rest..God knows what I mean) & Alhamdullilah!!! :D

p.s. Sometimes when I forget and in the middle remember after a swallow, I say Thank you God for what I just ate and am about to eat :huh: etc.. etc ;)
