Grr - somewhere someone said they stayed in a nice but cheap hotel near the embassy in London and you think I can find the post to send a pm to find out where the hotel is?!?!?!?! GRR!!

If anyone sees it can they pm me and let me know - I am taking suggestions on hotels so I can book something for when I go down for my interview - not sure if I am going to go for one or two nights but I am fully intending to get the megabus down because it is so cheap on the day before and then the megabus back the day after I'll have a nice quiet chilled out time in London... but no internet... which could be annoying!! I will text Jeremy and force him to post on here... I'll prime him with the links to the relevant threads!! Hehehe

But yeah - I still don't have a date but am sending packet 3 back today so getting a bit nervous about it all!!!

I stayed here: www.orchardhotel.co.uk, it's only about a mile away from the Embassy near Paddington station... I booked a flight/hotel deal from lastminute.com and it worked out much cheaper than their advertised pricing.

Hi all,

Another approval to add to the list! I'm so happy. The interview/ embassy process was incredibly smooth and easy - and everyone was very friendly including the lovely Chinese lady! She was talking to me about her daughter for about 10 minutes!

I'm planning on flying out March 31st. All I was given to take away was my x-ray and told to put in in my luggage.

Thanks for all the help I have had in this forum.

I was just reading through the POE info and it mentioned a sealed brown envelope. All I was given at the embassy to take away was my x-ray - is the sealed envelope given to me with my passport by the courier?

Congrats! Yes, the sealed brown envelope (known on here as the Mysterious Brown Envelope) is delivered by the courier with your passport. I know everyone's said it a million times, but DON'T OPEN IT!!! Of course, you have to open the outer plastic envelope to get at your passport, but keep the MBE safe and (most importantly) sealed.

Lovely. Thank you for that. As I understand it I then give the envelope to the immigration officer at POE. And they forward it on to my local office.

We may be moving from our current address in the US (which is on the paperwork) before we file for our AOS. This would mean we'd be dealing with a different local office. Who would I need to notify of our change of address? Would the file be transferred before we even file the AOS?

I was always so that people would EVER open the MBE, given that I'd read it was stamped all over with 'do not open', but upon receiving mine I have a teensy bit more sympathy... yes, it says 'do not open' (which should be more than enough ) but it also says 'this is your visa', and as it comes back in a plastic sack, in which it is by far the largest item, and it's not always evident that the passport is just chucked in there loose, along with the MBE, I can almost imagine someone not knowing it was there and ripping open the MBE in a panic

of course, it's more likely ineffable curiosity, but still

Oooh, I got the text tonight to say my visa will be with me before 10am tomorrow!!!!! I'm in the process of booking a flight to the USA now online for Saturday, (no point wasting time away from my babies and their mom!)

I can't believe I'll be with my family again the day after tomorrow!
