i only just discovered this part of the forum!! doooooh

i've got my interview on the 18th march - next tuesday - getting really excited for it now! just had my medical - i posted a review about it on the main cr1 visa thread. so... hi guys! an introduction - i'm emma, my husband's name is arsenio, we got married last feb and are settling in NYC just as soon as all this is over! nice to meet you all and wow, visa journey's a fab resource! about to do some digging for some more advice!

thanks! yeah - now i'm looking around, seems like a lot of the info i needed was here all along and there i was, floating in the general, all countries section this is so cool. making me feel a lot more confident about the whole moving to america thing!! maybe i should post my medical appt. review here!

Hi everyone - I've literally just got back from London five minutes ago - my flight was delayed due to the adverse weather in the north meaning the plane I was to fly on didn't arrive at Heathrow until after it was due to leave. However, none of that matters because I had my interview yesterday morning and:

I GOT APPROVED!!

I got to deal with the really nice Chinese woman that others have mentioned in this thread and she was superb, then when I was called back I spoke with a really friendly blonde English lady who only asked the briefest of questions then told me I was approved... I stayed near Paddington station in a hotel just off Edgeware Road called The Orchard, which was fine, (and cheap), and was also within a 20 minute walk of the Embassy, (I timed it by doing a dummy run the day before so I could ensure I got there bang on 30 mins before my interview yesterday.)

I'm chuffed. All being well I can fly back "home" before the week is out assuming the package arrives promptly.

Thanks again to everyone on VJ who has been such a help. I remember when I first discovered the site and especially the guides, I was a little overwhelmed by everything that needed to be done - but this site has proven itself an absolute god-send as seven months after applying without using a lawyer or any other help we've been approved. Thank you to everyone and also a big congrats to all the other recent approvals!

btw - can anyone who was at the Embassy yesterday illuminate me on who the famous person was coming out around 10am - tall, thin, late 50's, died black shoulder length hair.... he looked familiar, (probably a rock star), but I can't place him and it's bugging me like crazy!

Yeah you should - it's really helpful to others as well as interesting to read I remember first finding this place as well, we were all so excited about our NOA1s and getting confused over things that seem so trivial now... Part of me wishes (in a perverse way) that I could go back to the "innocence" of waiting for my NOA2 - it was kinda fun all hanging out together in our July thread and now a lot of people have moved and things have quietened down a bit Boo!!

Ah well - will have to go crazy organising things when I move Good news is that Jeremy's tax returns turned up today so I can send my packet 3 off in peace!!

The "famous" guy was smiling and waving at people waiting outside in the queue as he walked down the exit line..... of course he could just be incredibly vain but I did sort of recognise him though and have a nagging feeling I should know his name. The guy next to me in the queue said it was Bill Wyman, but I don't think it was.... same era though.

Oh well... the only other person that was vaguely recognisable I saw while in London was David Miliband MP...driving a black jaguar up Pall Mall while I was waiting to cross the road.

haha I didn't see anyone famous at the Embassy this morning, but last time I was there (for a J-1 visa) in 2006 I sat next to Gary Lineker for an hour (i was too intimidated to say anything tho!)

Grr - somewhere someone said they stayed in a nice but cheap hotel near the embassy in London and you think I can find the post to send a pm to find out where the hotel is?!?!?!?! GRR!!

If anyone sees it can they pm me and let me know - I am taking suggestions on hotels so I can book something for when I go down for my interview - not sure if I am going to go for one or two nights but I am fully intending to get the megabus down because it is so cheap on the day before and then the megabus back the day after I'll have a nice quiet chilled out time in London... but no internet... which could be annoying!! I will text Jeremy and force him to post on here... I'll prime him with the links to the relevant threads!! Hehehe

But yeah - I still don't have a date but am sending packet 3 back today so getting a bit nervous about it all!!!
