I'm going to be computerless until Wednesday evening UK time as I'm flying from Leeds to London in the morning and making my way over to a hotel near Paddington, (hopefully within walking distance) of the US Embassy. (I'll no doubt do a timed dummy run tomorrow once I'm settled.) My interview is Tuesday morning at 9:00am and I'm all packed and ready...I think. I think I've taken the "no luggage or mobile phone" thing a bit too seriously and so booked in an extra night at the hotel so I could dump my stuff in my room - hence why I'm not flying back oooop north until Wednesday. I didn't read the reports of people handing their phones and stuff to the Embassy staff open entry until I'd already booked.... my bad, but at least it means I'm not staying in the cupboard at my mum's place an extra day, (already sold my house in preparation of the relocation and staying with my mum and step-dad the past month since I came back to the UK which has been somewhat less than pleasant, (due my my step-dad being a royal pain in the ###), but I'm grateful of the roof over my head.)

As I don't want to have to take a big suitcase with me on the London Underground and trudge across London with it I don't want to take a suit, so is shirt and tie OK for the interview? (I don't want to be the scruffy guy at my interview, but likewise don't want to have to travel wearing a suit and have to wear the same one the next day.) I've not seen anything regarding what people wear for their interview so any pointers would be appreciated.

It's very, very casual. I wore jeans and a t-shirt and just about everyone else was similarly dressed. One person had obviously cycled in and was wearing full cycling gear - sweat included!

I thought about this too!!!

I just ended up going in what I felt comfortable in. Jeans and a jumper. Everyone else was dressed rather casually too apart from the odd business man here and there!

Thanks for the advice! Great, all packed and ready then... cursing myself for sleeping late today now as not tired and was hoping to have an early night tonight and be up bright and early tomorrow! Oh well, doubt I'll be sleeping much these next two nights anyway for fretting about whether I missed anything obscure but important in my visa paperwork bundle ;)

Best of luck Darren! I'm sure all will go well for you and you can get back to your family very soon :)

I'm also going to be travelling from Leeds to London on Tuesday and staying until Friday- it's my birthday today so my mum is treating us to a break in London. My medical is on Wednesday and the interview *sharp intake of breath* is on Friday so I won't be able to update here until I return from the interview. I'll be around tomorrow though - probably asking lots of questions.

Good luck also to lisalu for tomorrow!!

Got my papers together! If they deny me now I have no idea what more I could do to get an approval. I haven't included the original I-129F application, just the evidence from it. I was getting stuck for room in my folder!

Anyone know whether a visa debit card is ok to use for the medical and in the embassy - or should I play safe and take cash? I don't do credit cards.

Visa debit is fine; sterling is fine at both the medical and the interview. We paid for the medical partly in cash and partly on a Solo card. At interview we paid in sterling.

You're going to do just fine -- good luck!!!

Wow Debz is leaving on Wednesday! Good luck Debz :D

Thanks guys, I'm really not that nervous. I have a few butterflies but I think more from excitement than fear. Not sure that won't change though towards the end of the week.

Hi all,

After returning from a 12 day trip to Mexico with my fiance (and a very bumpy landing in Birmingham after being diverted from Gatwick due to the storms today), i've just been hit by the fact my interview is in one day!

I have one major question - do we sign the DS230 Part B in front of the interviewer? I presume we sign our DS156's at the window when we hand over the docs, but when do we fill out Part B. I ask because I have been refused entry to america (2 years ago and since been issued a B2, and have been assured this won't affect getting the K1), so i'd like to know when this will come up in conversation. I obviously want to be straight abbout it, and I know its asked on Part B so was just hoping someone knew when we signed this so my mind is at rest.

Many thanks as always.

D
