Hey guys, calm it down! KnightAndMagpie you would probably get all the answers you needed and more by posting your own thread in either the UK section or the K-1 section. Good luck with your journey!

Lets keep this thread free for people to post when their interviews are.

Aye hear ye hear ye!!!

Mags,

You will need a police certificate yes? that is good for one year. Sorry dont understand the words "police contacts" but again, you must order the correct form.

The medical you can schedule a few weeks before interview if you decide, they will just need your case number from NVC You scehdule the medical and they submit to embassy for you. You do not submit so thats not a biggie - just make sure you call a few days after medical to make sure all was good.

Once you have ur interview me thinks your K1 as i recall, so the law there is six months from issue of Visa to immigrate to the USA, but remember once on USA parchment you have 90 days which to fulfill that K1 visa and get married.

Cheers , godspeed and good luck -

me thinks you gotta spring it on mum and dad soon yes? ekkkk runs for the sangri lol

When something goes wrong remember this saying "WHEN MAN PLANS, GOD LAUGHS"

Well, everyone, Tuesday's the big day! Keith's interview is at 8.30, so we're hoping for the best. Spent today on the phone talking about what he should wear - funny how fussy a man can get over which tie to wear! We've got all the forms in order, photocopies, originals, things in triplicate, tons of letters and pictures for evidence of ongoing relationship, etc. etc. His arms are going to get tired lugging all that stuff to the Embassy.. Anyway, now it's just up to the powers that be. Wish us luck!

Good luck! I wouldn't worry about a tie. It gets stuffy in there, he'll just end up taking it off once he's waited around for three hours to get called up. ;) Just kidding, let us know how he gets on.

Tell me about it! Reading the reviews here, it seems like the whole experience is "hurry up and wait"!

I should be fair though, because I'm just about as obsessive as he is... I made him send me a google map that'll show me the route he's taking to get to the embassy (he's walking, lives fairly close), and told him he better call me in the morning right before he leaves so I know he's on his way -- who cares that it'll be 2am in Boston!

I'm so glad he loves me, because I'm not sure other men could take this!

Good luck! I wouldn't worry about a tie. It gets stuffy in there, he'll just end up taking it off once he's waited around for three hours to get called up. ;) Just kidding, let us know how he gets on.

Absolutely! We'll write a detailed review ASAP. Watch this space.

Keith's interview was this morning.... and he's...... APPROOOOOOOOOVEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pardon me, as I pause for a dance of joy:

As promised, here's a short review from what he told me. He's going to write a much more detailed one and we'll post that in the Embassy Reviews section in a few days.

His interview was at 8.30am. He was going to walk but ended up taking the underground. There at about 8.10am. He had to wait outside, but that wasn't a problem - sunny day, not that many people in line yet, and the big black buckets full of umbrellas in case of typical London downpour.

The forum here was really helpful - so he didn't bring fob keys, mobile, pda, etc. Just an armful of documents, supporting evidence, etc. And a winning smile, har har. Said that security was absolutely no problem, everyone was friendly. Had to remove his watch and belt, but was given these back when he finally got into the Embassy.

He was given number 5010. Finally got into the waiting room at about 8.45am. He said there were already about 250 people in there (I had no idea it was so big), most waiting for non-immigrant visas. There were about 8 people there on immigrant visas, a few waiting for "C" and "DHS" visas, whatever that means. He had brought a book, but ended up just people watching instead. Noted that there are large reproductions of Hopper's "Nighthawks" and a painting of a bison on the walls.... "probably to jolly things up a bit", as he said ---- though I wonder how jolly it is to be staring at a picture of an almost extinct species and a diner full of lonely late night people... anyway, I digress.

He had to wait an hour and forty-five minutes... was called to the first window at 10.30am. Friendly British guy there asked for all the certificates (birth/marriage/divorce/police), for the I-134 (which we had and all the supporting documentation organized in one nice folder... the guy apparently just glanced at it, noted all the papers were there, and said, oh very nice. thank you.), and he signed the DS-whatever#. Paid visa fee at next window, came back, received the pink form to fill out, took a seat. Oh yeah, the guy at the window had Keith's application in front of him and Keith saw it already had a red "approved" stamped on it.... I do wonder though, if that is the I-129f that had the approval-stamp on it, not necessarily the K1.

Then waited, another 10 minutes. Called up to window 15 (or 16, can't remember) and was greeted by an American lady, whom he said didn't look quite awake. Scanned fingerprints, and asked him:

- When did you two meet?

- How did you meet?

- Have you been to the US? How many times?

- When did you decide to get married? How come it took so long? (We've been together 10 years)

Keith answered every question by launching into a story - he's a talker, and likes to be meticulous and detailed about everything - and here's the hilarious part... after a few minutes, the lady told him, "Um, sir, I'm sorry but we can we hurry along a bit?"

He spent a total of 5 minutes talking to her. And then she said, "That's it!" He said, "Am I good to go?" She said, "Yep!" -- paid for the courier, and left at about 11am. 2 1/2 hours all told.

THANK YOU EVERYONE AT VISA JOURNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
