However, when you receive packet 3, it states that you should send back all of the DS forms "straight away."

The interview date is set AFTER the checklist is sent back to them. So, you can send back the forms DS230, DS156, DS156K, and DS157 as soon as you receive packet 3, and then wait to send the checklist back later.

Receipt of the checklist generates the sending of Packet 4.

So what? I didn't send mine back, "straight away."

Why not just send it all together?

I wonder if someone could shed some light on this for me as I am begining to have a little panic and as most of you are at interview stage I hope that you dont mind me asking

Story is I am waiting for my NOA2 got the NOA1 30th June and on my timeline I should get it adjudicated mid November.

I wont be able to move to the States till March time, due to obligations here. So I have booked a flight to the States to spend Christmas with my other half, with the plan of not sending back packet 3 till January. I have just seen that someone who also filed in June (from the Ukraine) has got there NOA2 and received packet 3 with their interview date, I have looked at the US Embassy page and it says that on receipt of packet 3 they will issue the interview so I am a bit confused

So what I would like to know is, does the US Embassy here give you an interview date before they receive packet 3 back, fingers crossed they dont

If I get packet 3 in November/December is it going to cause a problem if I send it back at the begining of January

I am worried that I have just bought a return ticket that I will not be able to use.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me on this

Shaz

A lot of consulates do things differently. The ukraines way of ding stuff is prob issuing the interview date before ackage 3. however this is NOT the UKs way of doing things. You have to send back pakage 3 before thy schedule you an interview.

The embassy don't care when you send the forms back. I received my P3 last November 2007. I did not send in the forms until January 2008.

My case went past the NOA2 expiry date. The embassy just extend it for you no problem. Though if your interview is after the NOA2 expiry date. You will need to take with you to the interview a notarized letter of intent.

Enjoy your Christmas hols, just like I did. Worry about the P3 in the new year.

For us, when we got packet 3 it had a list of things that you had to have BEFORE you sent off a signed document stating you have all your ducks in a row. (It said you needed things like your 1-134, your Medical Exam, and a few other things) Once you have all your things, you are suppose to send in a form, once you have sent the form is you get an interview date. At least thats how it worked for us. Make sure that you have everything they ask for, Mark also made sure that everything we submitted with packet 1 he brought copies as well. The lady at the desk said she wished more people were as prepared as we were.

Mark's visa was approved right away and he went to pay for next day delivery by 12pm. He had his interview on Thursday and was suppose to fly out on Saturday. Friday came and went with no passport delivered. We were frantic. Mark called SMS and was given the whole speech about they dont look for missing things until its 5 days pass due. Mark called the Embassy and they tracked it down and were really nice about it. For an extra bit of money they even promised that they would get a different currier to deliver it on Saturday between 6-8am. (Had to have it by 8am as his flight out of LHR was for 10:50 that morning and he had to drive into London to get it.)

At exactly 7:52am there was a knock at his door and it had his visa in it. With much haste Mark got to the airport and is currently on his way from Washington DC, to Portland Oregon. He said, when he called from Washington DC, that it only took about 10 mintues to go through customs.

We had a few scares along the way, but with lots of prayers everything seems to be turning out wonderfully. Hopefully everyone else will have their visas as well. Good luck!

Heya guys!

I apologise for writing in this thread, but it is UK-interview related. I desperately need some advice and information on the medical-to-interview processing time. I'm also a little confused in regard to the packets and such. The said thread is here:

It would mean the world to me if someone would get back to me. Hopefully, I'll be able to join this thread too at some point. Thank you so much, and apologies for interrupting!

Thank you, Susie!

Since I'm here =D I might as well throw my question to you guys, too. I was wondering how long I have before I submit the medical documentation. I need to delay things (the interview, I mean) until January at the least -- is it possible to schedule an interview that far ahead?

Because of cultural issues as well, I have to be very hush-hush about this at home. My parents are a little(!) on the extreme side in terms of culture and religion -- I don't think I need to elaborate too much on that. They're withholding my passport from me, and I can't go for my interview until I order a new one. The risk in doing that is that if they want to travel before January or February, I won't be able to find an excuse to refuse. Discovering my new passport, with the visa, would be BAD.

I also can't leave the UK until I finish my university course, and my exams finish in May-June.

I do have police contacts because of my family issues, but there's nothing they can do about my passport.

Please, please, please -- if anybody has advice, get back to me.

Magpie.

Hey guys, calm it down! KnightAndMagpie you would probably get all the answers you needed and more by posting your own thread in either the UK section or the K-1 section. Good luck with your journey!

Lets keep this thread free for people to post when their interviews are.
