No need to apologise, Julez! I think we can all appreciate that we're busy sometimes and we appreciate what you do for us. :)

If you need anyone to take over at any time I'm sure somebody here will be happy to!

Oh, and as I didn't say it earlier - congratulations Darren and Christina!

P & P giving a shout out here. We are not big posters, but have read every page of the interview thread. My sweetie's appt. is at 9:00 a.m. Monday  But I still can't help but feel a bit cautious as nothing is for sure until after his interview.

I would like to say thanks for all of the great information. We couldn't have gotten this far without it.

Good luck to everyone continuing their journey. May we all have positive outcomes!

Hi! I have a question! I was just wondering an exact amount, or a very close estimate, that my fiancé will need at his interview at the London Embassy...in pounds. I've read places 131 but I've never been sure if it was GB pounds or US dollars. We are a little ways aways from the interview, hopefully in October, but I'd like to know so we can determine if he will have enough money at the time, or if we'll have to make arrangements to send money or whatever we need to do. Thanks so much!!

Stephanie

Oh and sorry if this has already been answered on here, but I didn't have time to look through the 150 odd pages! LoL! :)

The visa costs $131 and they will convert it into £ on the day. You can pay in sterling or dollars cash and by card. You'll also need at least £14 for the courier. It will cost more if you need the passport/visa delivered by a certain time during the day.

I have not been approved yet so can you change that? She said she had to look into my case further although on the day was very friendly, said she believed everything I said and didn't need to look at any of my documents. She was worried about how I had applied to adjust status about 2 years ago in the States, I said before I overstayed the visitor's visa I had made an appointment at the local office and asked what happened if I overstayed and the paperwork was not completed, the officer said I can stay as long as I had started to file to adjust status. So I did. I left as my husband hadn't a job long enough to sponsor me, and I couldn't get back to UK to sell my flat to self sponsor. She said on June 5th she would call me that day or next. I am still waiting in limbo, like usual, since March 2007. I have called them 3 times and emailed them. They just say keep waiting they are still investigating, although what and how it takes so long I don't understand. She did say I could be banned for 3 years, although that could be sorted (why invent the rule and then over ride it?) She was surprised I had been to visit my husband in january for 3 months this year and hadn'y had any trouble getting in,which makes me think either a) I am not banned or B) their checks aren't that good,if all it took was me to enter in my married name. The guy knew I had been in before I think as he asked me,and I said yes. That was all. So I doubt I will get a visa, my husband has applied for a UK one now.

I was there yesterday (20.06.08) and took both dollars and sterling. I used sterling because the exchange rate was so good in the embassy - it cost £66.55 (1.968 USD for a £1) which is much better than my banks exchange rate which was (1.88 USD for a £1). With the £14 for courier this came to £80.55

Sorry about that celtic59. Please keep us posted on your progress. Hopefully they'll sort things out soon. I don't see what the big deal is, you're the beneficiary from the same petitioner. Sadly, I don't work for the embassy, though! Good luck! Edited by *julez*
