Hey guys. I am new here and this post has me a little confused. My ? is simple. We have an interview date set and my fiance plans on picking up the visa after it is approved. Do we need to pay this new fee and expect these delays in the p/u of the visa or is this just for those that are having it mailed? Thanks

Hello everyone! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!For the past few weeks b4 my interview,i can tell that i am truely nervous for my interview...i have no worries for my  medical coz ever since i have no healh problem...my interview scheduled 8:30 am...i was there at 7am...so surprising coz only few people are there...maybe bcoz of the coming christmas holiday.i was called for window 25, a good looking GAY was there for my pre screening interview...at first he is talking abt how i can amend my passport,he was giving advice and then later on,he was asking how i met my husband...of course i tell the truth and he was surprised when i told him abt my K1 visa..then asked me pictures and leters and i gave him a lot...it didnt take more than 2 minutes. few minutes passed i was called at window 44...wow the consulate there was really a very god looking and a very nice man...he greeted me MERRY CHRISTMAS first..he didnt asked much...he only asked me how many times my husband came to visit me....he asked me too if i miss him,and i said 'YES,VERY MUCH!" ,he asked how many kids i have from my previous relationship.then,he looked on our pictures then letters but he didnt even opened it.then he stamp and then look on the computer then stamp again my papers, then he said,"OK,I SEE ALL OF UR DOCUMENTS ARE OK,AND I DONT SEE ANY PROBLEM ON IT..THE NEXT WINDOW WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOU CAN GET UR VISA".thats all! so i waited for my number to flash and i was called at window 37,and the same gay who pre screening me was the one in window 37.i was surprised coz i have to pay 2...for Delbros P162( i paid P162 instead of P165 coz they dont have change) and for the documents review w/c is P650. i told my husband abt it right away and he then told me that its in the embassy website,in "preparing for the interview".he said that NSO will review my documents.and today he told me that he called the embassy and asked my visa, the lady told him that its already send to NSO and advice us to call them back end of January 2008...so guys, lets keep our finger crossed and hoping that i will get my visa on hand soon.i am also want to say thank you to all VJ's who pray for me....thanks a lot!HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
goodluck with the visa. i hope everything goes well. if the CO said everything is ok, then it means it's OK.
HEYA everyone...HAPPY NEW YEAR!thanks again for the replies!yes i know that i wont have problem with my documents coz all of them are original.it just happen that they need to follow their new NSO verification procedure...i was just requested online a copy of my authenticated birth certificate a week b4 my interview and i had have been getting it from them sinced 1995 and i dont have any problem with it eventhough i am late registered.anyways, yes right,i will be recieving my visa soon...coz my husband is there waiting for me patiently.thanks everyone!

If you do not want any delays you should pay the verification fee at least two weeks before your interview. My wife is going to pay the fee at the same time she pays the K visa fee.

I understand what you are saying, but the process is not totally black and white when dealing with USEM  . I suspect it varies by  consular officer  who is handling things as to what they "require." My wife (Filipina awaiting IR-!/CR-1 appointment) was at the embassy two weeks ago completing our daughters birth abroad registration and passport and asked specifically about it. It actually came up over our daughter's birth certificate. My wife had both the local registrar version and NSO issued one on security paper (SECPA). She was told that if she had only the local registrar one she would have to pay and wait for a NSO verification (issue of one to the embassy from NSO via Delbros).

When she asked abotu the requirement for her papers in the next couple of months for her interview she was told as long as they are issued on SECPA from NSO there is no problem and they won't need verification  . The only exception the lady mentioned was if there were "abnormal" circumstances surrounding the documents. Changes and late registrations are what was talked about for that, but she said that was on a case by case basis.

All said and done I would say it is not worth paying the extra if you have the NSO papers and no immediate rush to get out of the PI. We plan to finalize our plans and close up our house and things after her visa interview and everything is approved so a possible delay wouldn't really affect us. IF you are very concerned and think it may have a bearing on your case by all means I would recommend doing it, but the impression I got was that it was primarily intended for those lacking NSO approved documents or who had possible abnormalities with their papers.

That's a good news sis. Actually, we have the same case. I was borned in 1983 and registered in 1997 due to some factual reasons - main reason is our city hall was burned a month after i was borned so my civil registration document was not forwarded to the NSO and my mom knew about that later on. she registered me in 1997.

i sent you a PM so we can track our progress. pls add me on your yahoo messenger list ha.
