I applied for I-130, I-485 and I-765 on July 13, 2007, the day my wife became citizen of US. I came here on J1 and was able to remove 2 year restriction, got my Home-Residency requirement granted, got married in feb 2005, its almost 3 years now married n leaving happily.

My I-130 was approved in Sep 14, 2007 and within a week after that i received a letter of approval.

And in Nov first week, i received Notice of Action for I-485 and I-765 that my case was under process with the received date of July 6, 2007(even though I mailed my packet on July 13, 2007) and saw Notice date of Oct 29, 2007.

Then after in Nov 3rd week i received a letter for Fingerprint I had on Dec 15, 2007 which was done correctly and on Dec 26, 2007 received my EAD.

I called USCIS today to find out what should i do and Officer told i have to wait atleast 180 days after application. I also asked him that i know wait time is 6 months usually and also asked him, which month shall i consider for now to see my waiting time, whether it is July(the month they received my application) or the October(Notice date) and he told that I have to follow the receiving date given by USCIS.

I am now concern that which is the right month to follow and if its july is it too late for me? My interview should be either held at Norfolk, VA or at Washington, DC.

Does anybody have any idea whts going on and is something serious?

I don't understand why your NOA dates are so far apart if you sent all three (I-130/I-765/I-485) in the same packet to Chicago. I also don't understand why your I-130 was already approved if this is how things happened, because most I-130's in this situations are not approved until the interview (same time as the I-485).

this is the way the world ends

this is the way the world ends

this is the way the world ends

not with a bang but a whimper

If you look at a lot of the timelines, many people who filed in July are still waiting. Don't freak out, nothing unsual, it's just that for some unknown reason some applications take longer than others to get processed.

I'm not sure what you mean about i"i-485 or interview date and which one you shall go for"...

Usually you will get an interview scheduled by USCIS at your local office and you have to go to the interview they set. The interview is for the I-485 aka AOS.

What is too late?

Oh and by the way a RFE can delay the application a bit. It was resumed about 3 weeks after your received the RFE so it could take a bit longet (not always the case though).

be happy you have updates and that you know they are working on it.

Late i meant was my receipt shows that they received my application for I-485 on July 3, 2007 and the Notice date was Oct 29, 2007. So which one i to consider, USCIS sees the receive date or notice date for processing, processing time shows that it takes atleast 6 months to process the application.

If the official date is October according to USCIS, that might be the one to consider. Now, if you received a biometrics appointment notice from USCIS before the NOA date, then I would use this one as a way to calculate your 6 month because if it's dated earlier it means they started working on your case before they bothered with the NOA.

I hope this can help you.
