My coffee maker came with this water filter that you just sit on top of where you put the coffee grinds. I've been using it but the filters are $5 or $6 for a pack of two and it has to be changed once a month. Does anyone else use this or is it just a waste of money?

Thats what the manufacturer does to make that item just keep on giving. If you have soft water prolly not gonna be an issue.

If you get that pesky white build up on your faucetts and glass shower doors you should prolly use the filters.

I used to work with a gal that would ONLY make coffee from filtered water. She claimed it tastes the best. When I made the coffee I used plain tap water and she would always comment on how great the coffee was. Filtered water is probably easier on the coffee pot, but I can never tell a difference with the taste.

Nessa do you also only drink bottled water? A lady was in here today and she told me that the government puts flouride in all our water because it dumbs us down so we obey. She said the gestappo (spelling?) used flouride in water in concentration camps to control people! According to her this is why the government is saying bottled water is bad and because of this she only drinks bottled water.

I think it's because I was raised only drinking bottled water in Brazil. We would buy 20 liters bottle like this:

007.jpg cuz it's cheaper than buying the small ones, plus, better for the environment. Here we buy the gallon one. I just can't drink tap water and if I cook something like potatoes where we won't drink the water I use tap water. If I cook something like soup that we will then I use bottled water.
