On question 15 of the I-130 form it asks for the "Name and address of present employer"

Would this be refuring to the name and address of the present employer of the USC or would this be for the person who the I-130 is being filed for, my Japanese wife in my case?

I assume it is for my job, the job of the USC as it is in that prospective.

Thank-you...this is all very exciting actually. I just got married in a religious ceramony on December 15 and we are filing the legal paperwork here in Japan in just a couple days...after that, there is no turning back! :) All there is to do is hope I fill out the paper correctly and then wait 9-12 months for the CR1 (All there is to do... HAH!)

Question 15 is about the Alien Relative so no, it's not asking for the USC's employment.

Hi,

The only question 15 is under section C, which relates to your alien relative. (I hate that the USCIS uses the term "alien" :( ) So it would be your wifes employer you would list. Note that if you don't have room (as we didn't) you can put it on an attachment. Just be sure to follow the I-130 guide here about the proper way to write out the attachments.

Where in Japan are you?

A further note is that everything in the right hand column of page one relates to the beneficiary, so you'll want to make certain you answered all the questions correctly. The left column relates to the petitioner.

Since the beneficiary is Japanese, question 20 applies, so the name will need to be written in Japanese characters in the space provided. Also, if those characters are needed in her mailing address, it should be provided on a separate sheet if needed.

aha..i made this mistake..I put the USC employer info..What should I do ? i guess I should just wait until i hear from the service centers..?

Yes, you can wait until you hear from VSC. You can call VSC and ask for their advice. VSC's number is 1-866-233-1915. I never called them, but that is the number I have.

The question was for Beneficiary (Foreign Alien Relative), not for USC.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

We almost made that mistake.

But even with no mistakes (HOPEFULLY), my wife has not even received the receipt. But again, we cannot be so impatient. so many ppl have been waiting since august. We only filed in November!! My wife called the USCIS. They told her that it is backlogged three times as much but they also told her something very interesting. Besides asking her for about 10 times if she is a USC, they told her that now she has called, they will look at our petition before others !!! Never heard of something like that before.

I have a question for "Justin and Masako" who have posted earlier in this thread. They filed on November 25th to Nebraska Service center (that is where my wife filed) and they receive their NOA1 on December 24th. I was wondering if you guys did anything like calling them or it was just luck that u guys got the receipt so early.

Thanks guys.. I am a newbie so please excuse me if my questions seem a little stupid.

Thanks again

11.13.2007 : Sent I-130 to Nebraska Service Center

01 .24.2008 : NOA1

04.02.2008 : NOA2

07.09.2008 : Sent AOS and ds 230

08.05.2008 : NVC case complete

08.23.2008 : Medical Done

09.22.2008 : Interview

09.22.2008 : Visa Approved
