Operation Searchlight" which resulted in 2.3 million Bengali Muslims being murdered by Punjabi Muslims and mohajirs), but has never learned from it

wow, unbelieveable

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I know what happened is "important" because of our situation with Pak, but I couldn't believe how on all the news channels all day yesterday it was only about the assasination.

Did most Americans even know who Bhutto was a few months ago? Doubt it. I didn't. How many people really did? My husband did but because he is from India.

I know because Bhutto brought a voice that sounded much more democratic is why it's in the news constantly. Why she decided to stand up out of the sunroof so unsafely, I have no idea.

Analogous to May 1991. Then, Rajiv Gandhi campaigned openly (without motorcade of "black-cat" security guards) to replace the image of aloofness (which had affected him in a 1988 byelection, and 1989 election) with one of closeness.

That allowed Dhanu (a Sri Lankan Tamil, part of LTTE) to murder him with a belt-bomb copied from a design mentioned in Frederick Forsyth's 1989 novel "The Negotiator".

And sad to say, assasinations and attempts are normal in the region. How many attempts have already been made on Musharraf? Lots. I am not trying to sound unsympathetic but the media loves hyping things so much...is it necessary to ignore all the rest of the news of the world when something like this happens?

Any country which is formed on the basis of religion and hate is doomed to fail, especially if that religion is held hostage by blood thristy perverts and the sensible close their doors and hide under the bed.

Seems to be a death cult.

What? No compassion for the dead woman? How sad. ;)

Lucky PWNED!!! ;)

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

A bit of a snoozer.

Corruption was always rife in Pakistan, especially after the fall of Ayub Khan (considered by Robert Payne as a skinflint who was not personally corrupt); the only ruler since then considered as possibly incorrupt was Moin Qureshi who was there for the 93-day stint from 1993/07/18 to 1993/10/19.

Eh, after Yahya Khan, Pakistan's corruption exceeds even that of India--let alone that of Mexico.

Charuhans actually hit it on the nail:
  • Jinnah wanted power, but wasn't comfortable with the idea that in a democracy he could get defeated; so he seeded hate to demand a separate Muslim nation where he would win by default
  • after Partition, there were two roughly-defined political factions in Pakistan: the "love Pakistan" which was predominantly Bengali (East Pakistani) and the "hate India"; unfortunately, the latter prevailed after 1951 and has never been out of power since
  • Pakistan has actually gotten the consequences of this more than once (most obvious example being 1971's "Operation Searchlight" which resulted in 2.3 million Bengali Muslims being murdered by Punjabi Muslims and mohajirs), but has never learned from it

Well, CherryXS, you understood the point I was making because you are knowledgeable about the history of the region. I hope people do some homework instead of expecting to be spoon fed here. Then a concise analysis seems to be "Generalizations" ......
