I wish you site your sources.

Alright. Here's a brief and by no means comprehensive overview. Most of these things are in the news on a daily basis, so if you need more info run a news search on any of these issues on Google.

On minimum wage, here. I know it's a union website, but they offer the most accessible information.

On education, here. About literacy rates in the US, check this out:

United States

In the United States alone, one in seven people (i.e., over 40 million people) can barely read a job offer or utility bill, which arguably makes them functionally illiterate in a developed country such as the US. In 2003 the National Assessment of Adult Literacy (NAAL), conducted by the US Department of Education, found that fourteen percent of American adults scored at this “below basic” level in prose literacy. More than half of these persons did not have a high-school diploma or GED. Thirty-nine percent of persons at this level were Hispanic; twenty percent were Black; and thirty-seven percent were White. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, "results showed that the average quantitative literacy scores of adults increased 8 points between 1992 and 2003, though average prose and document literacy did not differ significantly from 1992. Among Blacks, average prose literacy scores increased by 6 points and average document literacy scores rose by 8 points between 1992 and 2003. The average prose scores of Asians/Pacific Islanders increased as well, rising 16 points between 1992 and 2003.The average prose literacy scores of Hispanics fell 18 points from 1992 to 2003, while average document literacy scores decreased by 14 points. Average prose and document literacy scores among Whites did not change significantly." Literacy among college graduates declined between 1992 and 2003, with less than one-third of all graduates at the highest “proficient” level in 2003, and less than half of all graduates with advanced degrees at this level.

(from Wikipedia: "Literacy")

On health care, here and here.

On social security, here.

What are your sources, then?

It is not the fault of illegals that American children lack access to education, medical treatment and other social services but the fault of Americans who think if you can't make it on your own, tough luck.

When your childs teacher tells you point blank to your face that she is sorry that your child has to learn at a slower rate because other kids who's parents cant help them need extra attention and a slower learning scale due to immigration issues ie; cant speak english wont come to PTA confrences, or the child hasnt had prior education. Dont get me wrong, I truely feel for those children and hope that they get an education as well but why should my childs education suffer due to someone elses inability to keep up. Its not an issue of tough luck, its an issue of we shouldnt have to hold our kids back due to others issues.

I agree with you, there's no reason why my or your child should suffer. But I maintain that the fault lies in the lack of programs to accommodate children with language issues or with understaffed and underfunded school districts. And while you can blame illegals for using the schools, you can as well blame the local, state, and federal government or even better your representatives at all levels that they don't make sure the school is funded to meet its needs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in favor of illegal immigrants or illegal immigration, but I don't think they are the reason why so many things are wrong. They might even contribute to things being wrong but it's not alone their fault but for most of the issues raised in these discussion it's the fault of USCs and legal immigrants who don't protest the fact that schools don't get more funding while billions of dollar are blown in government pork. I'm sure you can think of some political pet projects that are utterly pointless especially when you consider how teachers could have been hired for the same price.

From what I am reading, it's not that we are blaming Illegals for all problems in America. This is an immigration forum and it is Immigration that is the issue. We are all upset that we have to spend numerous months waiting for visas to be re-united with our spouses/fiances and children.

These illegals live happily with there families and then cry about it when they are caught. Lie in a bed with glass and your gonna get cut but dont come crying to me about it.

Education, welfare and healthcare are for a political forum.

This thread angers me. Here we are working our butts off and killing ourselves with stress and patience while illegals can get married here, file as if they were legal, and WAIT IN THE COUNTRY UNTIL ITS DONE?? this is beyond BS! pfffffffffffffffffffffffft

How on earth did this move to off-topic???

Well, I guess we had gotten off-topic at this point... :P

My point exactly, lets keep this about Immigration. The OP was wanting an easy way out for her illegal. Whether it be a sisters fiance/husband or her fiance/husband or both as the case maybe judging by her multiple posts stating differing information.

It all stinks to me.

QUOTE

My sister has been happily married for a while, her husband has been supporting the family. They have two children; a 4 year old and a 3 month old. They have never been away from each other for more than a day. If he goes back to Mexico how is she supposed support the family and how is she supposed explain to their children why their dad is gone. She will not tell her children that he had to leave because other people doesn't want him here.

joej:

Sorry, I can't sympathize either. Because we went the legal route, my husband missed the birth of our child and much of the critical bonding untill he got here. Are her children better than mine? In fact there are many people with children that are separated because they are doing things LEGALLY. I'm not trying to be harsh, but isn't illegal immigration partly to blame for the long wait periods for those who enter legally?

I so totally agree, and am with you on your statement 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, she was looking for advice to legalize her family which is a proper reason to ask for advice in two different cases and there is no reason why people just get at her for trying to do things right. The easy way out interpretation is yours and that of other people bithcing at her; given the plethora of myths concerning the ease with which Americans can bring their foreign spouses to the US her ignorance should not come as a surprise.

LOL I am not sure how we got off topic, I just rolled with the conversation  I agree tho, it really angers me when people are looking for a fast fix, when our SO's are miles upon miles away trying to do things properly. She should take her gripe where her predicament lies......that would be her spouse. You make your bed, you have to lie in it....but dont complain if you short sheeted yourself

Did she seriously expect us to open our arms and give her a warm hug for asking how to help her LEGALIZE her ILLEGAL husband in the US??????? Well i can give some advice, send him home, file LEGALLY, AS THE REST OF US HAVE, then come and ask for advice on legally getting him legalized. Most of us here havent seen our loved ones in a year OR MORE, and its because we are doing everything legally and correctly. OFCORSE we are gonna get pissy when we get someone asking for our help on an ILLEGAL person already in the country, trying to legalize himself the EASY way!!!!! Why would we react any different??

someone give me some of that fukidol

QUOTE: My sister is married to a illegal immigrant from Mexico. They went to one attorney and she told them that they would have to wait for the law to change. So basically it sounds like he wont be able to ever become legal. Does any of you know what they could do?

Thank You

QUOTE: my fiance came here illegally 6 years ago from Mexico. We started dating a year and a half ago and we are now getting married. We talked to one attorney and she said the best option is for us is to get married in Mexico and then apply for the K-3 visa and the I-130 visa. Does any of you think this is the best option? Also we have a a problem he uses a fake soc. security card and resident card. Can they find out?

Thank You

Come on Fischkoepfin, dont be naive - the OP clearly looking for us to tell her an easy answer and all the facts are not being given. Your a clever person and Im sure you can read between the lines. Two posts of differing facts says it all to me.
