sounds yummy, but I doubt I will find a world supermarket, I'm in Kansas, remember? :P

I thought you had the recipe for the dough.

I like the ground beef filling and also the ham and cheese. I could also try with hearts of palms and chicken, or hearts of palms and shrimp :D

oops!! if you make the dough, the recipe is 1kg flour, 250 grs of fat, 1 spoonful of salt disolved in water, 1 cup of cold water. Mix the flour with the water and salt, put it on a working surface, add the melted fat in the center. Let it rest for an hour covered with a dishcloth. make the discs 12 cm in diameter (you can use a dessert plate as a guide) and 2-3 mm thick.

Those fillings sound great, you can get really creative with trying different flavors. I tried a chicken, bechamel sauce and mushrooms once, yumm!

Saludos,

Caro

I feel important  lol!

This is the recipe adapted to Texas :P

1-go to your nearest world supermarket or phonecia's bakery. Get "la salteña" empanada dough.

2-chop white onions, green onions, red peppers, green peppers. Fry on a frying pan. season with salt, pepper, "texas joy" meat seasoning, and a bit of chilli powder.

3-add ground beef to the fried mix, but don't cook the meat!. It will cook later in the oven.

4-hard boiled eggs, potatoes, olives are optional (I use one of these tops, I like my empanadas meaty :P)

5-grab an empanada disc, place a spoon full of filling in the middle and close. repeat :D

6-place them in a buttered baking plate, paint them with egg yolk

7-bake at 450 until they are golden and yummy

for the ham and cheese, use muzarella cheese, ham, and eggs (optional)

Enjoy!

Saludos,

Caro

Wow, that is sounds goodylicious!

If I can't find the ''La Saltena'' dough , do you have a recipe dough that made from the scratch? I am gonna try the ham and cheese empanada for new years eve!

Thanks Caro! :luv:

I've never tried, you could give it a shot. The dough has to be firm and easy to handle. Usually you use just plain all purpose cooking fat :)

You can always have light beer and make up for the extra calories :innocent:

Sorry to hijack your thread Luz  I want pics of all the empanadas resulting from this recipe!

I'm getting my wedding band - FINALLY!!! We will go to chose it later.. I've been looking at some and narrow it down on what I like :)

We didnt spend much on each other this year since we just moved to our new house and we already spent too much on more important things for the house. We got several beddings from my in-law and some decorations too. Oh and I got the IRobot Vacuum  which didnt arrive in time for christmas but oh well..YEY!!!!!

The best part is dinner that Bram cooked.... (in this family the men cooks.. YEY!!) he made turkey and five spice roasted duck :luv: and too many other dishes that we even forgot to passed around lol.. He was cooking dinner for 8 people all day so I helped clean afterward. (hand wash our wedding china but the rest went in the dishwasher... Thanks goodness for DISHWASHER!)

Anya, are you getting the roomba? I've been eyeing the scooba (which does wet & dry for hard floors). But first I want to make sure they work a long time as they are a bit pricey.
