Visitor's visa for in-laws and niece

Hello,

I am a US citizen, and my wife is a permanent resident. We were hoping to have my wife's parents visit the US from China on a visitor/tourist visa. However, we were also hoping to have our niece (my wife's sister's daughter) come along with them. She is only 5 years old.

I was wondering if anyone knew how likely or unlikely our niece would be granted the visa?

Any advice on what we might be able to provide to help convince the consulate to allow them to visit? Thank you very much!

I dont see any problem for the child to get denied... she will get Easily and for your In laws.. they will get it by saying they are visiting their daughter for a Holiday

Thanks for the link. That has some very useful information. Although that situation does not involve a kid. I have heard that it is usually quite difficult to bring a small child (like our niece) if it is just for visiting, as immigration is afraid that they will leave the kid in the US. I'm curious if anyone knows if this is a big concern?

It's a huge gamble that they have to take when they go petition for their tourist visas and all you can do is maybe send them a letter of invitation. Other than that, it's up to the embassy to either grant or deny the visas. There's no true science to it.

I wish you luck. I've heard it pretty tough to get, for the most part, though some have reported doing just what you propose.

Can't say I've ever looked into it myself. We are more in the "no way in hell is she visiting us" category. Our choice.

My Mother in law has been denied a tourist visa 4 times from the Philippines.

Did they give a reason for the denial? Is it due to lack of "strong ties" to the phillippines? Does she own a home or have a job there?
