Hello all,

I've been reading through some of the threads over the last hour or so... so many of us out there love someone and must patiently wait during this process. My question is, do you all find it so tough right now? For me, hearing the Christmas music and seeing everyone looking so happy to get ready for the holidays with lights, etc all over only makes it more difficult since I am alone, again... Long story, but I am anxiously awaiting a trip to see him on 1/31, my 5th time to visit or stay with him! Thank God for the cash and miles deal on Northwest Airlines. The prices have shot up sooo much over the last 3 years!

As for me, I have been waiting to be at this point for about 1 year. I think I can finally file by the end of the year. I am waiting for a letter right now from Cambodia with his employment history (lack of) and real signatures on it. Maybe another week. (I am so glad I read on this website that the signatures need to be genuine not a scanned copy, by the way.) This has all been tough on us. I had to laugh when I saw the government figure that says the form should only take about 1.5 hours or something to complete. It's been months to get everything ready.

Oh, and what's everyone's take on putting that there is no employment history at all for him. After talking about it for months we went with this because he has always worked sort of odd jobs, nothing steady and no one that can be contacted. It works that way in Cambodia and I hope its more or less the status quo? After all, it's one of the poorest countries in the world and most people get by with farming and selling things in the markets.

Anyway, I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and I envy all you who recently got your soon to be spouses here, just in time for Christmas together. I hope I am among you this time next year, putting up the lights, planning holiday dinner, inviting people over... Instead I'll be working, but at least I will be making triple time and hopefully won't focus on my misery of coming home to a lonely apartment again... :crying:

~Shonda (waiting for a happier life to begin)

It just kills me that we have waited for more than 2 years for one very small piece of paper, about 3" x 4" to go into his passport.

I understand exactly what you are saying. This time of the year is hard being alone without the man you want to share your life with. Hang in there, keep strong, keep loving and you will get through this one day. Like you said maybe next year he will be here to celebrate this time of year. I pray that he is here with you far more sooner than Christmas. We are all here for you on visajourney if you ever need anything!

Last year was so depressing! I remember wishing the holidays would just hurry up. This year is truly amazing! Merry Christmas to everyone and hang in there!

Merry Christmas Shonda and here's a big wish that by next year you and your beloved will be sharing it together.

His lack of employment history shouldn't be a problem on the K-1. They are more interested in yours to ensure that you are in a position to support him while he acclimatizes to life in the US. Since he seems to have worked a lot of odd jobs, I suspect you could probably list him as self employed as he provides services to others as required and as are available, and isn't on anyone's payroll. You can then provide details if requested (ie. handyman, farming, selling, etc.).

Good luck with your application. Believe me when I say that once you are together, the time apart definitely looses its sting.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
