Hey folks, I am just looking to tell my story and see what anyone thinks.

I am now living in Cape Cod, beautiful place evenm though it's not warm yet.

There are Dunkin Donuts everywhere and they are frikkin expensive.

We were in Providence, RI 2 days ago to get my biometrics done and there's a Timmy's there, so we had to stop of course. And buy a few tins of coffee.. wooo.

So, I was thinking...

My husband and I are young, we both love Tims. He loves it as much as I do, can you believe it?

And according to the Tim Horton's website there is all this help for people who want to open Tim Horton's in the US. Of course you have to meet the criteria etc, but I am thinking what a perfect place, Cape Cod, to open a Tim's. There is huge demand, especially in the summer, and right now Dunkin has a monopoly.

If we socked our money away for say 10-20 years, perhaps we could very well do it. Open a Timmy's in Cape Cod. Wouldn't it be perfect??

What do you guys think??

If its possible for you to do it then go for it. Hubby and I are thinking the same thing for down here in Florida. Nothing and I mean nothing compares to a Tim Hortons coffee they are awsome!!!!!!!!!!! Once they taste it theres no going back  I loved the coffee but the Krispy Creme donuts kick butt so they should merge :P

If there is a huge demand in your area, and you think that you and your husband will make good business owners, then I'd say it's a good idea to open up a TH.

Good luck!

opening a new store in a location where there currently is none, would be totally up to Tim Horton's (and Wendy's) approving the space for one. Second for them to approve your franchise application (not sure if they require that you have to work in an existing franchise for a time first as some franchises do), and that you have at minimum $250,000 in liquid assets (ie: cash) in the bank to take over an existing franchise. Or you may need up to $1million to build new.

From our own investigations, they have no plans to expand into any new states, so you'd have to build in a state that already has at least 1 Timmy's. In 20 years this may change one way or another. They may expand into all 50 states, or they may back out of the US altogether.

Other than that, yeah, its a good idea. Hubby and I considered it, but don't have the required capital or other qualifications.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Heck, I was looking into it myself, but not sure if Oklahoma is ready yet for Timmy's.....

Look into it -- the website is pretty open about what you would need to qualify, and just be realistic about it. :)

The more Timmy's in the US, the better!!!:yes:

KIM CAMPBELL !!

what ever happened to her ???

Wasn't she a consul general or something like that in california? I must go look that up!

Edited to add:

Apparently since her Prime Ministership:

-- political science Lecturer at Harvard

-- was Consul General in Los Angeles

-- chaired the Council of Women World Leaders

-- served as President of the International Women´s Forum

amongst other things. :)

Good old Kim Campell!! Good waste of Cdn tax payers $$$. While in the Cdn Navy years ago, she was the consulate or something in LA. We would come into San Diego, pick her up and what ever guests, turn around and go out on a day sail, so she could wine and dine them!! Waste of tax payers $$$$ and delayi9ng our time!! off while in port!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
