Firstly this is not a K-1 Visa forum question your petition is for a CR-1 Visa.

Anyway once it can take several weeks before USCIS mails out the receipt letter. If you used a personal Check, you know they entered the petition into their system when they cash the check.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

All you can do is wait. Let them do their jobs.

There is a forum specifically for CR1. But we're all glad to help if we can. When the check is cashed, they will print your case number on the back of the check. So, if your hubby has online banking, he can look at a scanned image. If not, he can call the bank and ask for one, I think.

Anyway, once you have the case number, you can create an account and check your case status online at www.uscis.gov. Look for the link to "online case status." You will need the case number from the back of the check. It will start with three letters followed by a series of numbers. Mine starts with WAC.

Good luck. And don't let the SLOWNESS of the process get you down. It's worth the wait in the end!!!

I see you have met the "forum nazis".

For your visa, check the timelines. You are looking at 5, maybe 6 months for your I130 approval and about approx 3 months at the national visa center if your husband stays in afterburn to get through the NVC. Wait times at your embassy vary a bit (I took a peek) so I'm not sure how long between completion of your case at the National Visa Center and your actual interview.

The information you were given is correct. You can get your case number from the back of the cancelled check, then sign up on the website USCIS.gov with your case number and follow your petition through the process.

Regards, and welcome to VisaJourney

Maybe I'll run a survey to see which is more annoying/insulting or heaven forbid against terms of service, people telling others their post is in the wrong forum or those who call them forum Nazis.

Any name callers want to bet on the outcome of the survey?

Cutie Baby, if you're going to participate here, you'll be wise to start with the link called "New member guide".
