:luv: We're having one wedding....July 15....and since it will be outside and HOT, maybe 50 people, not including his family. Since we'll be doing a Native American blanket ceremony too, the ceremony will be a few minutes longer than most. Reception inside though.

We had a courthouse marriage with one witness, a friend that's like a brother to us, and then a really small religious ceremony with 3 witnesses: my FIL, BIL, SIL, and 3 year old nephew (he doesn't count). We never had a grand ceremony with all the works (mehndi, elaborate wedding outfit, jewelry, etc.), and never will, due to family issues around our marriage.. though I've always dreamed of a big wedding when i was a younger. It's a price I had to pay to have my hubby i guess.

My hubby's timeline (F1-visa):

Married January 2003 :)

Sept 2003 - Filed AOS, EAD

Sept - November 2003: Took fingerprints. Received receipts, EAD.

Oct 2004 - Renewed EAD

Nov 2004 - received EAD

April 2005 - changed address, 2nd set of fingerprints received

August 2005 - Received interview letter

Oct. 18 2005- Interview, no on the spot decisions given at this office anymore

Oct. 19 - "touched"

Oct. 20 - Case status online is missing, touched

Oct. 21 - touched, ONLINE APPROVAL MESSAGE! YAY!

Oct. 22 - touched

Oct. 24 - touched

Oct. 25 - 10 year permanent resident card received!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG SO HAPPY!!!

Oct. 30 - touched

There were 4 people at our wedding, our witnesses and their SO, no family.

We didn't organize a reception either. We married in black for myself and him in jeans, I dress better to grocery shop sometimes :P

I don't plan on having any sort of celebration with our American family either when we move soon. i'm sure they would like it but it's not gonna happen!

Our wedding was very small... at the actual ceremony, it was just my family which consisted of mom & dad, sister, 4 brothers and sis in law, my grandma, 2 aunts, 1 uncle and 2 of my friends... None of hubby's family could make it, which was too bad... the ceremony was in a little chapel that couldn't have fit any more people  ...

At the informal creception at my parent's house we invited a few more people... all together at the reception there was probably about 25 or so people.... Hubby and I liked it that way... I never wanted a big huge fancy wedding.... One of my brothers had video taped the ceremony and we played it at the reception for the people who weren't at the ceremony....

When I moved here last year... hubby's sister threw us a wedding reception.... I had no say whatsoever about any of it... ( I am kind of glad we didn't get married here in Cali, I probably wouldn't have ended up with a big, huge fancy wedding that I would have had no say in :P)

the reception was very nice though
