I (L) London! I also love the anonimity that a big city provides. While you have your circle of friends it's less likely that you'll run into anybody you know when out. Plus there is always something to do and oppurtunity is endless for new discoveries. If I could live any place in the world it would be London.

London is a city of multiculture, try finding someone English there!!!!! Last time I went (September), I felt so out of place because I don't speak German.

I do prefer a smaller city any day, being packed like a sardine on the tube and fighting my way to try and see the tourist sights is my idea of hell!!!!

Welcome to most huge tourists cities

I lived in London and spent much time in the city back in the 80's... and visiting now.., staff in pubs and hotels mainly consist of other europeans, and you know what? service has improved tenfold imo

This year we just decided not to take the tube and take taxis everywhere ... and we will do that always from now on, awesome people, no stress and really not that much more expensive than travelling on the tube

London is an awesome city, I never get tired of weekend visits.

:o Why do people hate London?

Because it's huge?

Because there are hardly any British people in London?

Because "Traditional British Food" these days means stir-fry or curry?

Because there are cameras EVERYwhere watching you every minute?

I know you're my hubby but I am going to have to disagree with you here.

London is huge, of course it is...but it is divided up into many different areas and boroughs. All of them are like mini-towns on their own, with their own shopping centres and councils. So, in actuality, the actual "London" part isn't that big. Yes, it hustles and bustles there...but go into the outer boroughs and there are some lovely quiet villages with fishponds, ducks and a local pub.

You just have to know where to look. ;)

There are also plenty of British people in London. Yes, we have a high diversity but British people still WAY outnumber foreigners. Chances are if you stop Joe Public in the street he will answer you in a British accent. :D

British food is making a HUGE comeback too. GastroPubs are on the rise and traditional British fare is always on the menu. Steak and KIdney Pie, Yorkshire Puds, Pot Pies, Roast dinners, Fish and Chips, Bangers 'n Mash...and so on. Can't beat a good bit of traditional British pub grub in London.

Finally the cameras. London has crime just like ALL big cities. If having cameras watching you disembark from the tube means that Mr Filthy Rotten Thief gets caught when he mugs old Mrs Pierce from number 63 Bakers Lane then I'd rather have the cameras.

I love London and I do miss the culture a HUGE amount. I love it here in the USA too but a piece of my heart always belongs to London. I always found it almost seemed to live and breath when I was there - there was an atmosphere that I've not experienced anywhere else in the world. It has a vibe, a personality and a history.

London. Great city? Yes. Capital of the world? No.

Ever been?

London is reallly great... Indians are the biggest diaspora there now.. and the way London has transformed itself in the last 15 years is amazing... the basic thing they have done is harnessed their infrastructure and renovated it new every 10 to 20 years according to the city neeedss... its really important.. I wish i could get a English holiday once ina lifetime for a month or so....
