It hurts the public when a person gains the right to vote by stealing the identity of a dead USC. It hurts the public when a person with and through the identity of a dead person starts patrolling our streets as a law enforcement officer. It's not that hard to see. And I did say it earlier - highlighted it for you.

How does it hurt the public when a person gains the right to vote? Why shouldn't he have the right to vote,

he grew up here for crying out loud. It's not like he can use both identities to vote.

"typically for economic gain."

My guess: The victims are all the American people who are attempting to make an "honest" pay check and pay taxes to the government to support the salaries of what they hope are "honest" law enforcers.

Assuming another identity doesn't make him dishonest. I can change my identity tomorrow

and call myself "John Gupt". It's a free country, you can use any name you want.

suggestion ... formally for legal documentataion purposes ... just do it legally.

among friends and others (informally) you can be whoever you want to be ...

I also hope that you never become a victim of identity theft of any kind ... as it's not fun getting things corrected.

I agree - it's not fun, if you're still alive.

Apples and Oranges. There's a fine difference between assuming another identity (as in changing your name) and assuming another's identity (as in pretending you are someone else). It's a free country alright. But your freedom ends where it interferes with that of others.

Legally one can change their name but they are only allow two "legal" aliases on any one time. However, the article exams how that man "illegaly" obtained the identity in this free country.

Common law: you can change your name by usage in many (most?) states.

The right to vote is a privilege that citizens of this country enjoy. He ain't a citizen of this country. There are 20 million illegal aliens living here, many more legal aliens. They all just start casting ballots and shape a country they're not formally a part of? It just doesn't work that way.

He arrived as a child ... he does not automatically become a USC just because he lived here illegally. He knew he was illegal ... he committed identity fraud/ theft. He was and is not a USC.

And to answer you earlier comment .... in identity fraud/theft issues ... the spirit of the law is to prevent identity theft/fraud. kinda in-line with the letter of the law.

Any way you look at it what he did was fraud.

Again I ask. Who did he "defraud" by assuming a dead person's identity?

A dead relative's identity, used with the permission of his immediate family, I might add.

And dead people can't vote. Although sometimes dead people have been known to stuff they ballot box it comes out later as fraud.

Check documents ... you need to also prove who you are ... to become who you want to be ...

Like a person changing a surname after getting married ...

The public. The tax payers. The police office. Many people and our government who didn't give him permission to use the identity.

Maybe this will also help ...

He did not obtain permission from the dead person who's identity he took (stole).

It was not the familys identity to give .. it belonged to the dead person.
