But when Mr. Ayala-Cornejo filled out recruitment papers, he used the name of a dead relative who had been a United States citizen.

That is ID theft any way you slice it even if the victim of the theft happens to be deceased.

What's the harm is stealing a dead person's identity?

If you steal a dead person's identity, do you then by default also become dead?

Are you the living dead?

Braaaaaaaaaiiiiinsssss!!!!!!!!!

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Hmmm the saying goes in the UK that "nobody is as bent as a copper !!!!!"

I for one in my youth obtained a few items from a policeman that where a bit dubious in origin.

It wasn't this guys fault that he was bought to the USA as an illegal youngster, I think that he should of been allowed to join the police force given his past history. Here in the UK it would of been allowed I'm sure (human rights!!!).

Saying that he really shouldn't of lied, that is a 'no no' Maybe if he had told the truth something might have been sorted.

really ?

please explain this ... how it's a "human right" to break the law (willful ID theft for starters) ...

actually in this career ... he was screwed. He should just be saying ... "thanks mom ... thanks dad for setting me up to be deported. And ... shame on me for not making arrangements to be here legally ... before trying to be a cop"

Obviously you haven't heard of the human rights act in the UK.

e.g. We had an Italian guy here who murdered a school headmaster. When his sentence was up, not so long ago, the government wanted to deport him but the courts over-ruled it saying that because he had been her since he was 9 that he had nothing in common with his home country and he should stay here.

Now I'm thinking that if this police officer was here then he would most definately be able to stay even if he did lose his job.

The US isn't the UK .. obviously.

Yes I know that but I really can't help but feel sorry for the guy.

Are they saying that all the other Law enforcement guys (police) are 100% law abiding? I think not.

I can't help but think they are using this guy as a bit of a scape goat as he broke an obvious law . It's an easy target, after all he didnt choose to be an illegal immigrant.

Undead, technically. Still, who are you hurting by using a dead person's name/SSN for work?

He took anothers identity.

Then he chose to remain illegal ... as an adult.

He knew better ...

btw: We are not talking about other LEOs ... we are talking about this guy. Nice try.

Ask the SSA. Ask the election officials. And on it goes. There are plenty of reasons why stealing even a dead's person identity is wrong. I, for one, rather not have a guy that can't appreciate just how wrong it is patrol our streets in uniform and with a handgun. ;)

I'm against illegal immigration as much as the next guy, but I have my limits...

If someone was brought here as a young child, I think they should be allowed to stay.

Then the originally illegal child grows up, becomes legal by default of just being here and then sponsors his parents back into the country....

Let's all get our jollies from bitchin on this guy, what fun it is! I mean, he's being deported, the law is being followed, rejoyce!

What's with your love of illegal immigration? What's wrong with entering this country legally?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

What's with being a legal zealot as if all applications of existing laws equal justice? Some of you throw out all reason when it comes to cases of immigration, siding with the letter of the law as if it were God Himself.

Nothing wrong with entering the country legally, I'm not against it at all. As for 'lovin' illegal immigration, well, that's a fantasy you made up all by yourself, so you'll have to do yourself the courtesy of making sense of it as you feel fit.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Technically, if I were a criminal arrested by this cop and convicted with testimony from this cop, I'd be petitoning for the decision to be reversed, and the original charge to be thrown out.

This cop has put society in jeopardy by leaving such a possibility open to all the criminals he put behind bars. FURTHERMORE, I'd like to know if when he caught someone breaking the law, whether a sob story could sway him from doing what he had to do....if it didn't, then he has no business doing such an emotional mindfock with this piece here.....and if he ever was able to be swayed, and let ppl off because of 'circumstances'...then he wasn't a good cop in the first place. ;)
