Well everyone, we are heading out tomorrow morning to go to Atlanta for Christmas. Seems silly to be leaving the snowy North East for places more "warm", but that is what we do. As hubby & I look back on the past year we are overwhelmed that we are now together in the same bed at nights, and even more amazed that our paperwork "journey" was so smooth and quick. We were blessed this past year to make it through AOS without too much damage done to our hearts and pocketbooks and we in many ways count each of you here on the Canada forum as part of that blessing.

Thank you for your pm's, your encouragement and your listening ears and hearts. You truly are a blessing I am counting for this year! You made it bearable for me!

I hope you & yours have a WONDERFUL holiday with family & friends, and for those who are awaiting reuniting I hope this is the very last Christmas you spend living on separate sides of the border!!

BIG hugs to my CDN VJ Family! You rock pretty much!

You've probably left already, but wanted to wish you a safe journey! What a wonderful post..brought tears to my eyes. You said that so lovely. 2007 has indeed been a memorable year, and you too have helped make it so.

My exact sentiments, Michelle. Thank you for your warm words. But, uhhhh.... "You rock pretty much?" Does that mean that some of us don't?

I wanted to get my Merry Christmasses in too. I probably won't be online for the next week or two. We leave for Canada on Monday. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday, with lots of good prezzies and warm family fun. And for those who are going through difficult and stressful times, I pray for peace in your heart and good things to come your way.

Love and hugs,

Gillian

Merry Christmas! - and why not bring some of that white stuff with you to Atlanta - we would LOVE to get more precipitation for Christmas - rain, snow, sleet - as long as it's wet!! (Waving at you from just south of Atlanta).

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Merry Xmas to all. Lots of snow here in Saskatoon. Cheers

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Awe hugs to all!! We got back on Wednesday and I've just now stopped to check back in! :) Thanks for your words of encouragement - we had a GREAT trip... and all the arrangements we made turned out beautifully! We even went downtown in Atlanta and checked out the outdoor skating rink! I wish I'd brought my skates! :)

It was truly a great break and visit with the kiddies.. we're now thinking about a more permanent move down there.. *sigh.. we'll see how that goes, like I said it's just an idea.. I'll miss being so close to family (12 hrs being "close").. but we'll see how all the cards play out!
