That's weird they call it Krio, cause thats what they call the dialect we speak down in New Orleans...they also call people Creole...don't know if its like the same thing.

 I don't think the adjusting will ever end...even in non intercultural relationships there is ongoing adjustments throughout the whole marriage. So it makes sense for there to be even more adjustment in a relationship trying to merge two different cultures.

No that is an altogether different Krio.

The Krio people is Sierra Leone were freed slaves returned to Freetown, Sierra Leone.

They adopted the Krio from a mix of English and other African tribal languages to be able to communicate.

My fiance is Mende, not Krio but speaks Krio besides Mende and English to communicate, not all understand English there but nearly all understand Krio.

So some of the same concept as Creole but different.

For sure!

My sweetie and I are complete opposites in nearly every way imaginable!:

  • I'm tall (6'1"). She's short (5'½")
  • I'm conservative. She's liberal.
  • I can't read books. She studies literature.
  • I'm pale. She's... Caribbean...
  • (the list goes on and on)
but we'll work through all our differences, on top of those presented from the LARGE culture gap! Patience, love, and understanding are key..

If someone keeps faith in each other and faith in the good Lord, they'll be just fine, eh?
