Using Forever stamps to send a letter abroad

I'm going for the 2oz, which means five stamps. Not so many that it looks like I'm the Unibomber trying to send a letter to HSBC, not so few that the cheques don't get to the branch.

Next time, I'm giving our British relatives my account details in the UK if they want to send cheques for Christmas!

You're more gutsy than me - it involves $$, I'd go to the PO & make sure it had the correct postage!

I would just put 10 stamps on it

or 11..... or go to the Post Office

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Off to ask where the scales are in this office...

It's the fact you're using forever stamps that worries me. You know how uninformed the PO peeps are!

It does have my return address on the envelope; worst case scenario: we have the cheques cancelled. If you knew what this post office was like you'd do your best to avoid it! The people who work there are lovely, but there are only two of them when it's fully staffed and it takes forever to get anything done. Last time I went, it took me an hour to have a package sent Global Priority Guaranteed to the UK. They were very sweet, but that's 60 minutes of my life I'm not getting back!

I don't drive (yet -- exam is on the 3rd of January!) so it's all bus and foot for me. The sub-post office in my neighbourhood is even more useless than downtown's; other ones are too far away and would require multiple changes on a bus network that is notoriously unreliable. About a year ago, in their infinite wisdom the USPS got rid of the old, very large and efficient downtown office and left downtown folk with Yale Station only -- it's essentially the University's sub-post office and was designed to cater to the students. Now it has to help everyone else here.

But...we are closing down early here, so I'm going to head over there to see if they're still open. I'm also going to ask about the Forever stamps while I'm there.
