True. But isn't it irritating that some people can seemingly only interpret criticism of the current administration by attacking the other side, and by assuming that that side somehow represents your political interests?

Permanent residency doesn't allow you to vote. But it sure as hell 'allows' you to pay taxes.

I would like to thank whoever started this tread. It has been awile since we had a good wholesome political conversation on VJ. I love it. :luv:

You're welcome. :D

Bush is certainly the worst in my lifetime, that said the candidates since 1980 have been variously less than stellar. Clinton was probably the best IMO (in my lifetime), coming off the back of Reagan and Bush Sr.

Worst of all time though? I think there were some real stinkers back in the 1800's who put GWB to shame.

Carter was just as ineffective and enough time has passed to get a clearer look at him. Things look bad for Bush, but if a miricle happens and things improve in Iraq he will look a better in the view of history.

True. I think it has been almost half a century since there was a truly "great" president, regardless of party affiliation. I'm not even sure if I think Bush is the worst; Hoover has always been my personal favorite, followed or tied with Coolidge, and somewhere close to that such people as Buchanan, Johnson, and Grant.

Plus one other thing I left out was the start of the troubles we have with Iran started on Carter's watch.

Oh, my. Those Christians just brainwashed again  Are we still crying because Kerry lost? :crying: I find it humorous that the left spends all this energy crying, complaining, bitching and moaning instead of working on their own defunked party, building some core priciples that could win votes and producing a candidate that stood for something (AND ACTUALLY VOTES THAT WAY).

I find it humorous that you take it so personally...but nevermind...

Politics is personal because political leaders claim to represent the people...but nevermind...

You got that part right, they sure do CLAIM to represent. What they actually do is entirely a different matter. But if you think the POTUS represents you so well...*shrug*

The problem with a two party system is you only get a choice of the lessor of two evils

Or you get whomever 'appears' to be the lesser of two evils.

Nail on the head!!

Sort of. The troubles started with US-support of the Shah's ouster of Musharref under Eisenhower; Carter is just at the end a long line of bad foreign policy choices in regard to Iran. But I agree that Carter is not anywhere close to a great or even mediocre president.

I did not intend this thread as "government bashing," but as an informative exchange about a recent poll labeling Bush the worst president. But if you want to interpret it that way, oh well. ;)

For members of the younger generation it might be fair to say that Bush is the "worst President in living memory" ;)

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
