Hello all,

We are filling up the i-130 file and need some instruction about it, my husband is the USC and I am the benificiary, well I guess in this case I am the one wearing pants  because my husband is too scared to take the responsibility of filling the forms, basically he can blame me later on if we get rejected because of wrong filing

Anyways, here are a few things which I would want to get cleared with---

With the form i-130, question number 7

Other Names Used (including maiden name)

I was wondering, if I should place the Hindu name my husband got with it, he is a caucasian and we married through hindu rituals and he got a hindu name during that time, he has never used it in his day to day life, but shall i give it out anyways, as far as I have read the chennai consulate guidance, it says to bring religion conversion certificate during the interview time if the marriage has been done through hindu marriage law.

question number 10) Alien Registration number

what shall we give into that?

question number 13) Has your relative ever been to US.

I don't have any relative in US other than my Husband, who is a USC, so shall I put him in that catagory? If you suggest I do so, then what shall I fill in for the 14) number where it asks if the relative is currently in US, then how he or she arrived as, my husband is born there.

Basically what shall I put forth with the 13th number question, leave it as N/A or put my husband's name.

question number 20) If your relative's native alphabet is other than Roman letter, write his/her name and foreign address in the native alphabet.

I really am confused how to go about this one, my native language is Bangla, but even I can't write my name in that, I can only speak, and my husband has no clue about any Indian languages except Hindi, that too just the greetings and a couple of things, so what shall I do, shall I scan him how to write my name in Bangla and my address and let him copy that? As I figure it out, the i-130 is to be filled by the USC, so he will need to write in my name, or is it really necessary to fill it with the foreign language? All our documents are in English, I hardly speak Bangla at home or outside, its just a namesake native language for me.

Hope to get a solution of all these.

Best of luck to all of you!

Hello Dunhill,

Thanks for all the clarification, but just one thing which I would like to know more

This form needs to be filled by the petioner and you just need to sign !![/qoute]

I don't see the form i-130 asking a signature of the benificiary, I only see the signature needed are of the petitioner, or am I missing it somewhere, if you can help me out with that.

Thanks again!

The U.S. citizen is the sponsor, the foreign spouse is the beneficiary. The 130 is the petition of the sponsor to bring the beneficiary to the U.S., so all questions are from that perspective. Information on the USC will be in the G-325 which must be filled out and signed by each of you.

be careful using N/A. some things are "not applicable" means "does not apply" but there are some things that should be filled out NONE. I think most things on this form would be NONE. If there are no other names used then it is NONE. uscis frowns on N/A if the answer is NONE, (I have gotten the impression that uscis beleives most of there questions apply) .

Hi Silent,

if you husband was born a USC, then he does not have alien registration number. If he naturalized, then he does.

If you have never been to US and never filed (yet!) any paperwork with USCIS (former INS), then you don't have an alien number. If you filed anything with USCIS, then look at the receipts they sent you - A# could be there.

As for native alphabet - whatever language is customary in your country... what language is in your birth certificate/passport? I don't know how English and Hindu are used in India, so VJers from India are better help.

CR-1 Timeline

March'07 NOA1 date, case transferred to CSC

June'07 NOA2 per USCIS website!

Waiver I-751 timeline

July'09 Check cashed.

Jan'10 10 year GC received.
