Can we just have a marriage license or do we need to have marriage certificate? There is not enough time for us to set a church date and to plan everything and also for my fiances family to fly here (since it takes long for visas) What is a good way to get married in the 90 days and then later me & my wife can have a big reception??

Married is married. You need a government issued certificate of marriage. In some states the license and marriage certificate are combined in the same document but it must be complete and certified as filed with the State to count as married.

There are alot of ways to accomplish the legal marriage. What you do about a ceremony for family and friends is entirely up to you as to content and timing. The USCIS requirement is a legal one.

You MUST be married within the 90 days. The marriage License is not good enough.

You can have the civil ceremony in the Court House, and have the CHurch ceremony at a later date, but you MUST be married within 90 days

I'm in the same boat, but here's what we plan to do:

Once my fiancee comes over, we plan to go to the court house and get marry fast and easy. Since my fiancee is from Hong Kong, we will go have a big ceremony/reception acouple years from now. (we need to save up)

We plan to take our wedding pictures in Houston, Texas. Although if timing is bad we plan to wait to have our wedding pictures in Hong Kong.

go to Las Vegas

I live in Las Vegas and agreen. If you want it quick and easy then do it in Vegas then have the family come later. The Vegas court house is 24 hours a day just for people who want to get married. All you need to do is pass a test before showing you are not drunk. (This is True, Not a Joke) Anyway goodluck

Marriage license is not good enough, you must get married within the 90 days and have a marriage certificate submitted with your AOS application. We too felt rushed with the 90 days so we decided to postpone the church wedding until we can have all of our family here from abroad, so we had the civil ceremony and will have the big reception in a year or 2 when we get everything planned. Be sure to take a couple pics to have for your AOS interview.

You have to have the marriage certificate. The marriage license proves nothing.

Here's what I'm doing so that I can have the traditional wedding and reception and all that. I'm meeting with vendors now, while we're waiting for the NOA2. I'm not HIRING anybody, just determining what I want. I'll have a 1st choice, 2nd choice, and 3rd choice. Then, when he gets the visa, we just have to set the date and make a few calls. Hopefully, this will work . . . . .we'll see.
