Polish tradition is actually more celebrated on Christmas Eve with a big family dinner, this year it's at my moms house. We start dinner when the first star on the sky appears in the evening. Before the dinner we break a wafer and wish each other good things for the upcoming new year. The Christmas Eve dinner is vegetarian, we don't eat meat until after midnight when Christ is born. After dinner we open presents! :D

This year is extra special, because I'll have my husband with me! :luv: Not only that, but my parents are divorced and haven't been on speaking terms for about 20some yrs. This year they have agreed to have dinner together as one big happy family. God does miracles!

I'm 1/2 Polish and I can remember making pierogis with my sisters for Christmas. Do you make them? I love the blueberry ones!!! I haven't had them in sooo long!!!

My ex has a huge italian family and Christmas Eve is BIG for them so he has them Christmas Eve and then brings them to my house on Christmas morning around 10ish. I spend Christmas Eve wrapping presents and usually go out to eat with my parents. This year I'll stay home though and just get a baked stuffed lobster and some key lime pie and watch movies by myself. Once the kids open their presents on Christmas Day we all go to my older sisters' house for the rest of the day and open presents there.

My kids are getting old I don't know what to do with them over the vacation. I usually take them to Disney on Ice but this will be the first year they didn't wanna go. They won't even go with me to see the Alvin Christmas special either!:cry:

I know the feeling with my teenager, but my 6 yr. old stepson is all into the season spirit....and he wants to see Alvin and Chipmunks. I think his mom will go with him while I take my 16 yr. old to another movie. :D

This year.....

I'm going to miss my family alot :crying::crying::crying::crying: , last year we went to celebrate Christmas with my family in Peru but this year we decided to stay with Sil's family plus I just started in a new job and don't have enough vacactaion time. The good thing is that I get a week off after Christmas, so that's not so bad

Christmas Eve: Finish wrapping gift and then go for dinner to my in laws, then we come back to wait for 12 o'clock sitting next to the tree, we exchange gifts (lots of gifts!!!!) and after that we go back to Sil's parents to open more gifts. This years my sister in law is inviting us to her house on the 25th, all the family will be going, and everybody has to bring a dish, I'm planning to cook "Lomo Saltado" delicious peruvian dish.

FELIZ NAVIDAD Y PROSPERO ANO NUEVO FOR EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!!

This will be our first Christmas in our own home. The first two Christmases we spent with Joe's family in Texas and last Christmas we spent with my family in Ontario. So, I am reviving a long-standing tradition that I followed in Canada before I moved south - a Winter Solstice dinner for friends. Tomorrow night we have 16 people coming over for food and a friendly celebration of the Winter Solstice. We will do our best to entice the sun to start staying longer in the sky - it has worked in previous years and I don't see why it won't continue to work this year:-). (Dancing naked around the fire works best at the Summer Solstice but I won't stop anyone if they want to celebrate the Winter Solstice the same way).

Christmas Eve we will snuggle at home with a fire in the fireplace, a good Christmasy movie on TV, tracking Santa on NORAD and just enjoying time together. We will open our gifts Christmas morning, call our families and share Christmas greetings, and then have Cornish Game Hen for dinner.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

What kind of food? :)

No idea. Nothing special planned.

Your avatar - a face only a near-sighted mother could love. I'm sure you're being modest. I'm thinking you look more like this...

Allrighty, then.
