Hey, I liked being home and being "wifey" during the first year I lived here. I occupied my time very nicely with volunteer stuff and personal interests. The hubby likes it when he can support us with just his income, he likes being sole provider. While we are in debt reduction mode, I'm working but when I don't have to, I won't be. But that's just us. :)

For a second there Steve made me think that maybe I'm some weirdo. Well, I guess I still might be but at least I'm not alone.

I know the feeling ... being called a weirdo because my wife doesn't work ... is well ... weird.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

First TSC Losers and now this! ;)

hehe I can see Steven's point, I am not sure if I would have called it weird, but whatever. There are some women out there that are content not having to work if they don't want/need to. I happen to be one of them, and my hubby is ok with that. He's ok with me working if I want to as well. But I don't sit around the house all day every day -- I make sure I have stuff to pursue outside the house as well when I am not working.

If someone here feels that they're income level is inadequate and they are childless, I would find it weird if the wife weren't working also.

But why? Why can't one spouse and do what they like - like volunteer for a worthy cause or somesuch - rather than working for another paycheck? I mean really. What would be so weird about that if the household has an adequate income from the paycheck that one spouse brings home? Personally, I'd encourage Nani to do what she likes and not worry about money if we were in that situation. And I'm sure she'd think of something worthy to do.

That's great. If you both feel content and financially secure with one income, more power to you.

....but ya'd still find it weird? :P

I would if they complained about not having enough money.

Does this mean ... a lifestyle and life choices other than yours is weird ?

Change the things you want to change if you can change them....accept the things you cannot change and find wisdom to the know the difference. It's really not a difficult concept to understand.

He didn't called others weird, he just felt that decision was weird. Big difference, IMHO.

I meant staying at home to be a 'wifey' as Reinhard put it, seems weird.

So telling someone they are acting weird isn't calling the person weird? ... weird ...
