Hi folks

Been trying to think of all the things that might crop up in the future while waiting for the NOA2 and suddenly thought about my dental and medical records. Is it possible to obtain these and take them with me to the US, when I eventually get my visa? Is it actually worth doing, or will GPs in the US want to just start from scratch with a thorough once over?

This mostly came to mind because I've had trouble with my wisdom teeth in the past (twice, in the last 10 years) and thought the old x-rays and dental history might be useful to a US dentist.

Thanks in advance!

Stu.

We didn't bother with the dental ones, I assumed a US dentist would see for themselves what dental work we had done in the past.

Our GP printed off our medical records and those came over with us and were given to our doctor in the US when we "signed" up over here. There will no doubt be a charge by your GP for copying your records and ours wanted a week to do it, so ask in good time.

I was only able to get a copy of my computer medical records.... all the info that was held in paper form dating from when I was born to when my doctor started keeping some notes on computer was not given... and I had to pay for each page and a clerical fee on top... no dental records as its easy to see what I have had done...

We didn't bother with either as record keeping in Jamaica is sporadic at best. Except for the vaccination records.

i also thought that this might be a future problem for myself, i asked my doctor what happened to my notes and if they would be transferred to america...he said no...they belong to the state and are sealed and put into storage, he said if i wanted i could have a copy of my notes but to his knowledge they are not needed...lol...

during my visa medical i was given an updated vaccination sheet which i was told to take with me to america and hand to whoever would be my doctor there...

as to dentist xrays...im guessing that would be one of the first thing a US dentist does when you first visit one.

thank god for technology!

you all think of so many things that I never thought of! Neil isn't one to go to the doctor unless he is feeling like he is dying so we didn't even think to do this. Maybe we will try to get copies when we visit his mom. such good ideas you all have!

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.
