This is the key point:

Overseas applicants should contact the U.S. consular office processing their cases to obtain a form authorizing release of police information. The authorization form should be completed, signed and returned to the processing consular post, who will then forward the request to the U.S. consul in Auckland for forwarding to the New Zealand police. The completed clearance will be returned to the requesting consular post, not to the applicant.

I have attempted to contact the u.s. consulate in Vancouver canada where my fiance will have his interview. I have sent a total of 3 emails regarding the release form. I have not had one email replyed to. Just today I faxed my question regsrding obtaining a release form. No response. I have even tried calling. They do not accept questions regarding k1 visias. We are at a total loss. I am mentally drained.

Worst case scenario it will delay 6-8 weeks. The embassy in Taiwan sent us the document at the time the interview was scheduled at the embassy. If it works out the same as ours did, it depends on the amount of time between the interview date and and the date the document is sent to you. In our case its 1 month, so we have so far had a one month delay. Additionally, you can apply for the police certificate yourself and take it with you. There is a case here in visa journey when a hand carried NZ police certificate was accepted in Australia. You can search for it. You might get lucky and the person doing the interview doesn't know this special rule for New Zealand.

Spoke to a really nice lady today from the consulate in Vancouver. She cleared up the issue of the police report from New Zealand. The one that we obtained from the ministry of justice is all that we will need for my fiances interview. We do not have to sign a release form for the consulate to send off for it. Like the lady said...why would they send off for the same police report that we allready have? It would make no sense. So now we feel much better no longer being in the dark.

*sighs*

Yes Daniel just went throught this, the consulate general in Aukland is suppose to send you the form in packet 3 and if you don't have it just contact them for it. My fiance filled it out, sent it back and basically they took care of the rest. About 10 days later he received a letter with an interview date so we assume all went well with the form he filled out.
