I am confused between the two affidavit of support forms. What is the difference between I-864EZ and I-864? When do we need to use I-864EZ and when to use I-864? Thanks a lot.

Form I-864EZ is a shorter version of Form I-864 designed for cases that meet certain criteria.

The I-864 is based entirely on salary or pension and is shown on one or more Forms W-2 provided by employer(s) or former employer(s).

If you read I-864EZ's checklist on page 1 of the form it indicates when you need to use I-864.

I-864EZ is used in cases where you: (Don't use a joint sponsor, Don't use assets, and sponsor 1 immigrant)

I864 is th a general form of Affidavit of Support. You may qualify to file I864EZ (the special version) if

1. You are the petitioner

2. Sponsoring based on your own income

3. Sponsoring only one immigrant
