Hey everybody,

It's great to be a part of this forum now. I know this process is long and can be stressful. It is wonderful that I have found this website for support. Thank you to all who have made this website what it is. There is very good information here.

Now to my question... My fiancee and I have received our NOA1 just a couple of days ago on Monday, April 17th, 2006. There are a couple questions in which I could use some guidance.

1. I am only 20 years old and Julia (my fiancee) is 19 years old. Does anyone out there know if this could be a potential problem? We are very serious about this whole process and I want to be taken seriously. And since I am a medical student, I have received continued support from my father to help with money issues, which leads me to my next question...

2. Can I have another person sign the support forms for me, since I don't make enough money as a student?

Thanks to anyone who would happen to know anything about my questions. Keep up the great work on this website everyone, you all make this whole process seem slightly more approachable than at first thought.

I don't see problem with that but I guess other VJ members would have better idea. As for affidavit support? You can have co-sponsor. Anyone can be co-sponsor as long as they meet poverty level.

Good Luck!

You should be in great shape. Your age is not un-common (you are not 15 or 16 or 60 or 70) and your dad can be your co-sponsor or anyone else for that matter as long as they are US citizens and make enough money to support your fiance/e. Good luck

Alex,

My recollection is that you, as the sponsor, must submit an I-134 (for the K-1 interview) and I-864 (for the AOS interview). If you require co-sponsors, they must also submit those forms.

Don't worry about your respective ages. It sounds like you've got a mature head on your shoulders. That will count for you.

Best of luck,

I have a question about what someone said about the I-134....

If I don't make enough money to meet the requirements and am having someone else help me out, only

that person needs to fill out an I-134, right? Do I also have to do it?

Can anyone who's had experience with this tell me for sure?

From US Consulate Seoul website

Complete the I-134

This form is filled out by the American partner to demonstrate his/her financial ability to support the fiancé/fiancée.

http://seoul.usembassy.gov/wwwh2521.html

Among the documents needed are a police check, a medical exam, and an affidavit of support with evidence of current, sustained income (I-134) completed by the petitioner.

c-dog,

Good question. Whether you as the petitioner need to submit financial information if you do not have the resources to sponsor your fiance(e) will be up to the consular officer handling the case. Most petioners assume that they have to submit financial information even though they do not qualify to be the sponsor, and so they do submit their own financial information along with the sponsor's financial information.

A few petitioners that I know of were ready to submit but did not until asked - and found that they were not asked.

I recommend that you be prepared with your financial information in the event that you are asked for it, but since you will not be the sponsor you may well not be asked.
